Welcome

Hi, welcome to The Last Remnant Wiki! Thanks for your edit to the Talk:Faye page.

Please leave a message on my talk page if I can help with anything! -- Drake178 (Talk) 04:06, April 8, 2010

Formations

Thank you for ordering the formations page! I have been working on a redesign of the formations page for a while, but I have not been able to complete it because I did not have all the formations in my current playthrough, so I could not order them properly myself. Now that I know what the order is, I have been able to add the last couple of formations and complete my table. If you have some spare time, would you care to take a look at the redesigned page? Vyx 20:02, June 27, 2010 (UTC)

Took a look at it, and it looks pretty good. It could do without the +% and -% columns since users will most likely check the formation page to see what the requirements are and will then see the bonus/penalty values there, but it still looks fine the way it is. Zephyr135 19:42, June 28, 2010 (UTC)

I have been worried that those two columns may be adding to the clutter, as well as widening the table too much. Otherwise it seemed like the +/-% bonuses would help newcomers quickly identify formations with abnormally large bonuses or penalties, such as Mystic Seal, or even the more mundane Crossbow and Warhorse. I will submit the table for a wider review under the formations page discussions, and think about the inclusion of those two columns in the meantime. Thank you for the feedback! Vyx 08:22, July 1, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the info. I've been fighting every creature from the quests at least four times before I come up with the numbers. Looks like it's back to the drawing board f me, eh? GamblrShirasagi 10:16, November 22, 2010 (UTC)

Weapon Modifiers

I've started getting the numbers on what effects +x modifiers are having on weapons, but perhaps they (along with the experience data) should have their own page? Torinir 16:16, July 22, 2010 (UTC)

I only noticed that there were 3 growth rates because of reading through the JP guide, so I tested them through a trainer. As for how many hits it'll take, I don't know if I have the patience to test it. It would be nice if they had their own page though. Maybe even add to the weapons' pages which growth rates they have. Zephyr135 16:21, July 22, 2010 (UTC)

Why you deleted my Edit?

Because pretty much every monster can be frozen, burned, acid burned or shocked. I've shocked, burned and frozen the Demigod before. The effects are so minor that it's not listed on the monsters' info boxes. The other statuses (Poison, Silence, Black Out, Paralyze) are much more important, so they're listed. Some might have Instakill or Petrification added if they've been observed.
Also, Permafrost isn't an Ailment. It causes the ailment Frozen. Zephyr135 16:53, December 3, 2010 (UTC)

Rare monster HP values

Hey, I'm liking the data you're getting for HP there. Just a quick question: the HP value you're listing is the max value, right? As in the total amount of damage done to kill it. I've always listed a range (the amount of damage done before the final hit, and the total), as the actual HP will lie somewhere between the two.
Anyway, one of the reasons I like the data so much is that I was having a minor squabble with someone a few months ago about Bai Ze's HP, resulting in the note at the bottom of the page. If we plug your data for Dawn Ruler into a graph, we get this:
Dawn Ruler PC Normal Zephyr
Even if we add everything from everyone else (data gathered at different levels of accuracy), the shape still holds:
Dawn Ruler PC Normal
It's pretty much the same shape that I suggested for Bai Ze, and the other monsters that you've posted for seem to fit a similar shape. I love it when I'm right, it happens so rarely. So, what are we going to do about it?
It's looking to me as if we're going to need a couple of graphs (smaller, line versions of the ones above) for each rare, and if my theory about regulars on Xbox holds up, one for each regular (I don't know if regulars scale on the PC or not). They won't fit in the infobox, unless we make the infobox huge.
At the same time, we have a problem with monster pages in the new skin (unless, like me, you're using Monobook, but that's not the default) - the drop tables are overlapping the infobox. Do we take the opportunity to kill two birds with one stone and rearrange the pages to put the graphs in next to the infobox and have the tables below? All early days stuff, there's data to be gathered and other users to be consulted, and you never know, one day I may wake up from this bad dream and Wikia will still be using the Monaco skin that all the pages were designed to fit... </crazy eyed maniac look> It's ok, I'm calm now.
Your thoughts? Ferret37 21:31, January 19, 2011 (UTC)

The numbers I'm getting are directly from using a trainer, which I think was built from using a few of CE's functions. So the numbers are exactly what they are, sometimes a little higher, sometimes a little lower, depending on what's loaded for that encounter. Occasionally though, I get some really whacked numbers. From one of my notes...
"Hard: 84 766HP @ BR10, 87 309HP @ BR14, 140 106HP @ BR75, 124 482HP @ BR100, 136 025HP @ BR150, 128 217HP BR200
  • Can use Total Domination at end of her turn."
Hinnah's HP takes quite a drop at times... which shouldn't happen. Hannah's HP behaves exactly the same way, even if their HP values are slightly different when the game loads the fight.
I'm pretty sure that regular monsters also scale, but most players won't really notice it since normal fights can easily be done in under 3 turns. Unless it's a dragon, then they have a chance of losing. The problem with regular monsters is that their union sizes can vary, so their HP values will vary accordingly. The only monsters that are easy to deal with are dragons, the spiritlord family and anything else that's big and only has one in a union. But I do like the idea of placing HP graphs by the infobox. I'll try to get all 260(?!) rares for both Normal and Hard, alongside the bosses, and maybe a few replicates depending on my patience. It's going to take a while though since I have classes to deal with at the same time. Zephyr135 21:50, January 19, 2011 (UTC)
Cool, good to know that the number are numbers - I've been working on scaling theories for a while now and there's nothing more frustrating than hearing "I counted the thousands" or "that was my BR plus or minus 20" or "well, it went on for ages so it must have been 100,000 HP". The Hannah/Hinnah thing isn't as weird as you might think though, it's been long established that there's a random element to enemy HP (so far I've only demonstrated it on rares, I think it's still on the Opiliones talk page, I'm too tired to look, and there's no reason it shouldn't apply to bosses), but that 140k at BR 75 is worrying, further off the scale than I would have expected. I'll look into a way of generating a user-friendly graph that doesn't rely on screenshots from Excel - those were for discussion only, not for CC publication. Keep grabbing those numbers, every bit of data helps. I'll try to get something useful together on Wednesday (my next day off).Ferret37 23:59, January 19, 2011 (UTC)

Thank You!

Thank you for fixing the Bonus Stat page. It was bothering me that I couldn't get what appeared on the Edit screen to actually show up on the primary page. Drove me crazy for an hour before I gave up.

You Rock

Thank you so much for answering my various questions everywhere XD. 71.177.247.234 18:40, February 2, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks. You like answer all my questions, and the above thanks is from me too. Dragoknight9 01:45, February 14, 2011 (UTC)

I get bored easily, so I answer questions to amuse myself... Zephyr 01:57, February 14, 2011 (UTC)

Man.... i have browsing and checking all of this wiki content for a long time, (i mean LONG LONG time) and i want to say : FOUR THUMBS UP ! (if i got the five ones i will up that too LOL) thanks for having so much information and keep it "clean" LordCerberus 1:33, July 27, 2011 (UTC)

Versions or errors?

A few things thats been bothering me. I don't know if its PC only or not. If you could answer them I'd appreciate it. First Wyngale, in his page it says bonus stats AP 15% SPD 3% and on bonus page it says AP 15% SPD 5%, but on xbox he only gains the AP. Second is the Glorious Brynhildr page. In the Arts section it says he uses miracle, I know they don't use it in xbox so is this pc only? Last is Ragna-rock. Its says equipment+2, which in effects page says results in getting +'s faster- 200%. When I got you the Undelwalton values I noticed it took about 20 hits to get. I even had 2 ragna-rocks equiped at the time hopeing they would stack when I made the second. So I tested ragna-rock in AR on terrapest at BR 72 with a bastardsword. Without ragna-rock it took 16 hits for +1 exactly. With ragna-rock it took 16 hits exactly. Why does it take the same amount of hits to get +1 with ragna-rock? Does the JP guide mention ragna-rock?--Jay222 02:45, January 25, 2011 (UTC)

Wyngale only gains AP in the X360 version according to the guide and from a JP wiki. As for the SPD boost, I haven't played with Wyngale on my team for a long time, so it'll take a little bit until I can get a solid number. It's probably only about 3%. As for the Glorious Brynhildr, I've had them use it a few times but I don't remember under what conditions. It takes a while before they even think about using it (~20 turns or so). The arts were extracted from the PC version's files, so it's right for the PC. I don't think fights tend to last that long on the X360 unless you purposely drag it out or are currently low on stats for the encounter. The JP guide makes absolutely no mention of the Arts/Skills/Equipment boosts under the Effects for the Ragna-rock. Both of them. Actually, the growth boost effect is missing from a bunch of pieces of equipment throughout the guide. The only ones that explicitly say "Growth Boost" (though it doesn't say what) are the Guardian Shield and Shield of the Vanquisher. I don't know if there's a limit to how quickly you can level up equipment, so there's that to consider. Zephyr 03:29, January 25, 2011 (UTC)

Ugh how could you not use wyngale :p. The fights on Brynhildr's were for weapon strengthening so some went as high as turn 35. Think I'll test equipment boost, be nice to need less hits. Anyway thanks for info.--Jay222 03:45, January 25, 2011 (UTC)

Hello,

Is there something wrong with the contributions I have been making to Bai Ze? You don't seem to approve.

Nick

Tips like that should be going into the Talk page. There's nothing really special about grinding against Bai Ze other than it being a sufficient punching bag and its corpse selling for a decent amount. It also clutters the page as it doesn't give any statistical data on it, like HP values, stats, etc., which is what the main page is for. There have been previous edits to different pages trying to add tips, which were then moved to the Talk page. Not sure if you've noticed, but there's already a "Strategy" section, which can be extended into using it as a training tool if the player is smart enough to figure it out. TLR_EE Trainer

Hi, so I just downloaded this trainer that you talked about and its in Japanese so I cant try it how can you use this trainer when its on Japanese -- Remnant13 03:39, May 7, 2011 (UTC)

Because I can read some of it? How else would I be able to use it without crashing my own game? I've written up a small "guide". It should pop up in a Google search when you look for "TLR_EE". The guide isn't quite complete, and I can't figure out some of the functions. I've really only fiddled around with the functions that are relevant to my tests. Zephyr 03:45, May 7, 2011 (UTC)
Wow! this trainer is so complex and I saw your guide I'm going to have fun with this--Remnant13 03:54, May 7, 2011 (UTC)
I should say (and in fact, registered to say) thanks for this. Before I read your talk page, I was using a large mess of a CE pointer table to see relevant experience values. The only other similar trainer I knew of was Necro's, but it consumed so much of my CPU time that it was almost pointless to run it simultaneously with the game! I can read bits and pieces of it so it's pretty convenient. I was wondering, though, if you know where it was originally posted? I'm tempted to ask the author about its source code so that an English version could be produced (referencing a guide is fairly inconvenient until it's memorized, plus it doesn't play nice with my surrogate translation script), but there's no contact information anywhere and I've only come across what looks to be a repost or two by googling around. Stafos 10:02, July 17, 2011 (UTC)
Sorry, I found it through a secondary source as well. I've located the homepage through the JP PC wiki, but I don't know if it's down or if I just can't access it. And are you using the guide from a Blogspot post? Any corrections/clarifications need to be made? I kinda wrote that at a prompting from another player. Zephyr 14:29, July 17, 2011 (UTC)
Having only checked this out late last night, I haven't had much of a chance to experiment with much as my interests are fairly narrow. Additionally, my understanding of the language is smaller than a toddler's fully grasped vocabulary. All of the battle tab bits seem to explain themselves though it might be worth noting that, as with any other trainer, you shouldn't change union/unit stats during their attacks as it can crash/hang. The middle checkbox near to the bottom marked as "Not sure what this one does" looked to read out as something like "higher order attack"--my assumption was that it would bolster union/unit speed, but, I didn't bother to test that out yet. As to the buttons on tab 7 (misc/other functions) which aren't mentioned in the blogspot guide, they function as a save/load position mechanic. Down arrows to save, up arrows to have Rushes' tail flap stretch back to the initial spot, courtesy of the Unreal engine.
In regard to the website, yes, it appears to be down. Additionally, I can't even access it using a web archive, so, I may be out of luck in hopes of contacting the author. Ah, well, I can always play the fool and just change the text externally, it just won't end as nicely due to restrictions on potential modifications. Stafos 16:17, July 17, 2011 (UTC)
I've assumed that the player has a clue on how to use trainers, so I didn't put too many warnings. I'll test out the rest of things soon and add them to the guide. I'm still stumped at what those checkboxes in the equip tab are for, but it's not really a concern for most anyways. Zephyr 17:09, July 17, 2011 (UTC)
That other unknown parameters label is a bit ominous, but, since it's modifying the equipment itself, you'd be left to wonder if some of the others are flags for racial/special usage, handedness and slot type. 0035(023) is Heartache, I believe, specific to Pagus, an accessory and has almost nothing (top three, bottom right) checked. 0106(06A) is the Draconile Broadsword. It's midsize so can be dual wielded (quad wielded too?), seemingly used by every race, isn't character specific and is a weapon... It has none of the top slots checked, but does have the bottom right slot checked. Seemingly, it would end up being a compare x to y to z scenario until they're debunked. Seems interesting, though. After I make it off of the first disk on the 360, I think I'll take a good look at it. Stafos 18:31, July 17, 2011 (UTC)
Efufu... Figured out those boxes and a few more bits. No Disassemble/No Selling/Remnant/(the rest concern growths)WS/WT/Mystics/Items/CAs/Speed/Power/MAs/IAs/Status. Updated. I actually have no problem figuring out most of the equips because I can read katakana at a decent rate. Kanji and hiragana is what I suck at because I've never studied the language before. Zephyr 21:34, July 17, 2011 (UTC)
Ah, good to know. I was pretty clueless about everything past the first three. I made that connection shortly after confirming with a few of the other unique items, thanks to randomly clicking on the aforementioned remnant. The rest were stumping me, since I`d not thought to bother checking in battle. Growths... my random speculation was totally off! This trainer`s pretty neat, though, for all that it does. It might be fun to tick off certain boxes for each and create a weapon caste for a playthrough. Pointless, but fun. Stafos 23:34, July 17, 2011 (UTC)

Land insecta husk.

hiya! i appreciate your help with my editing. Im not very good when it comes to templates but i try to fit in the information where i can. I appreciate you helping me along the way :)

Another thing to consider is changing the related guild tasks for Vicious Plant to include the sword of three guild task obtaining 2 plantea fluid. thx :D

... Which I'm trying to figure out from the template. There was a placeholder there that concerned the Plantae Fluid, but I have since removed it as it showed up on every monster's page when they didn't have a guild task associated with them. I'm considering just leaving it since the page is about the monster and not about the items it drops/splits for. You can look up the item in question to see if it's required for a guild task just as easily. There other thing I could do is just adding it to the Notes or just below the infobox until I can figure something out. And don't forget to sign your posts. Zephyr 04:57, June 24, 2011 (UTC)

Ah I see what you mean. Yea I suppose it really isn't a big deal whether or not the guild tasks are listed there. I just figured I would let you know since I've seen the guild tasks listed before for items split and I wasn't sure if this was just a monster that was missed. ShadowYoshi 13:34 June 24, 2011 (UTC)

Hiya! Just wanted to compliment you on your idea of putting the plantae fluid in the notes for Vicious Plant was a great idea. ShadowYoshi 02:42, July 1, 2011 (UTC)

Special Art

I don't know what would I do if I didn't know that encoder, Thank You for telling me about what encoder did you use and it simple but very effective. It seems that Divx Converter have a problem importing avi files from FRAPS thats why I used H.264 to encode it and theres some quality loss a little Pixelization on color edges but it looks great, please check my youtube page to see--Remnant13 21:34, July 3, 2011 (UTC) if my videos have good enough quality to replace my previous videos.--Remnant13 05:07, July 3, 2011 (UTC)

Actually, I had just finished uploading them for my own amusement at 1080p @ 60fps. There were some minor drops in fps while recording, but I don't think it'll be noticeable. They're all in JP though as I'm not particularly fond of the mistakes in the localization, missed call backs and some of the EN voice cast. Also caught a few interesting occurrences that might be of some interest. My playlist is here if you want to take a look. Zephyr 17:13, July 3, 2011 (UTC)
Nice, but why the faded color! it never happened to me though mine has high contrast due to my display settings I want something in between don't you think and recording it to full really lag me so I just set all game settings to medium and shadow to none. I think the most frustrating one is recording the support weapon arts since I want it to cast it on itself, avoiding critical triggers, and obscured view I never want to this again.--Remnant13 20:21, July 3, 2011 (UTC)
I'm still playing around with settings, and I haven't quite figured out how to use Sony Vegas Pro just yet (only just installed it). It'll probably look a lot better once I play around with things a little bit more, and after I create a compilation vid. That was really the only reason why I recorded them in the first place. I'm taking screens of some of the vids right now, so it'll be much more vibrant. The support arts were easy since I knew how to use the Battle Command tab on TLR_EE. It's how I managed to force Snowblind and Zeal's Virtue with only 1 union on the field. Oh, and all settings on max but "Battle Lights" was off. I think I turned it off during my Soldier Only runs and never turned them back on. My eyes are fairly sensitive to bright lights, so things have to be set lower or else I strain them pretty badly. During recording, it only drops to 40fps. My GPU is really weird too, going insane when I try to clock it up. I'm thinking of upgrading to a GTX400 or 500 series at some point and not going with MSI. Zephyr 20:38, July 3, 2011 (UTC)
I don't really know when will I upgraded my PC though components here in our country is pretty expensive especially on new releases and its better to buy stuff out of the country. Now who's video should replace the old one, yours or mine.--Remnant13 20:47, July 3, 2011 (UTC)
Well, which ones look better? Mine look a little duller, but the animations are a little smoother. I'll be putting up screens to some of them from my versions anyways, so it might be better for consistency if we used mine. I turned off the BGM so that the SFX can be clearly heard, in case anyone was into things like that. Zephyr 21:11, July 3, 2011 (UTC)
Performance over quality, when will you replace it cuz I'm going to delete my old videos in youtube.--Remnant13 21:22, July 3, 2011 (UTC)
I can start now. It's going to take a while to go through all my raw files to take screens anyways, so I don't expect to be done for a little bit. I want to (finally) upload a fight against the White Conqueror. Zephyr 21:24, July 3, 2011 (UTC)
Almost forgot, I haven't watch all your videos but it would be better if the target union would not die so the camera angle wont snap to the terminated union cutting the special art animation.Remnant13 21:34, July 3, 2011 (UTC)
No need to worry about that. I turned on invincibility for both sides. Zephyr 21:36, July 3, 2011 (UTC)
Yeah! I just saw that from Zeal's Virtue.--Remnant13 21:38, July 3, 2011 (UTC)

Late : Farming and selling of Auld weapons from some rares.

i am sorry sir, can you at least give an example what rare monster in that page? maybe the most easy or the most high rate drop.

If you had read my profile, you would know that I'm a girl... Anyways, I didn't write that page, but I can add to it later. The problem with those drops is that they're fairly rare themselves (3%~15%). Also depends on where you want to farm for them. Bloody Nussknacker is one, and it's easy to respawn for X360 players after they see it. Also, talk page. Sign your posts. Zephyr 16:05, July 13, 2011 (UTC)

ok thank u u really helped me:)

Admin

I don't know if any of The Last Remnant Wikia Admin have been present in a long long time so I'm hoping that you should become an Admin in this wikia since you've been contributing allot and helping us about some stuff in the game furthermore this Wikia hasn't been up to date and only Admin can do that. I suggest you go to adopt a Wikia.--Remnant13 12:27, July 14, 2011 (UTC)

Alright, I'll put in a request. They haven't been around in about 3 months, so I don't know if they'll ever come back. Zephyr 14:59, July 14, 2011 (UTC)
That's good to know but it will take some time before they'll response and lets just hope that they'll give you Administratorship on this wikia.--Remnant13 22:37, July 14, 2011 (UTC)
Well, it's on hold now as there are other active users. So I'll set up a discussion. Hopefully others will see it. Zephyr 03:37, July 16, 2011 (UTC)

Adopting Wiki

Hi. Thanks for providing a link to your blog post. I've given you admin and bureaucrat rights. Good luck with the wiki! -- Wendy (talk)@Wikia 04:46, July 25, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks, much appreciated! Zephyr 04:54, July 25, 2011 (UTC)

Voice Actors

I already edited the template to and the voice actors but it still showing as Unknown. If its fixed then I'll handle the character edits.--Remnant13 01:44, July 27, 2011 (UTC)

You spelled "seiyuu" as "sieyuu" on the template, and don't capitalize! Just use "seiyuu" and "english voice". That's what's breaking it. Zephyr 01:51, July 27, 2011 (UTC)
Thanks forgot about the capitalization.--Remnant13 02:04, July 27, 2011 (UTC)

Requests for Adminship

Hi, I've been editing in this wikia for quite some time and regularly visit to check for any vandalism (rare) and users who needs help. Though I did not edit much about the info or give data from the game but mostly took care of the appearance, uploaded pictures for characters, fixing templates and adding character info. The reason I want to become an admin is to help out cleaning unneeded materials while your away and to help other users. I would like to have Administrative rights in this wikia.--Remnant13 12:34, July 30, 2011 (UTC)

I'm going to have to think about it... There are times when I think that you're jumping the gun a little too quickly when it comes to edits. The Formations page comes to mind. The reason why they were placed in in-game order was to keep the PC only formations at the bottom of the page, where they belonged. And that was also an unnecessary rename. It was a page of formation's, hence the plural page name. If you keep most of your edits geared towards the graphical side, then yes. I'll take care of the other stuff because I really don't want to keep cleaning up after mangled English edits, of which the wiki already has enough of. I'm going to eventually visit each page anyways. Zephyr 15:02, July 30, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the welcome message...

And I DO actually have a question... how come there is a drop down saying 'People & Places' but no sub-category for a list of places? I would be willing to work something out - but it is going to take me a little toying to get accustomed to this site... I'm more-less a html/java novice (I know only enough to be irritating to my wife.) I only ask because I can edit small things and get them to work, but have no idea how I would start a new drop down option there... Blianbourne 23:54, August 2, 2011 (UTC) Always a work in progress

The welcome message is automated. Only admins can add something to the drop down menu. My guess is that no one would really use it in the first place since they would just use the search option to look for whatever place they're looking for. And clicking on the "People & Places" link takes them to the "World Map" anyways, so they can just look for whichever town/field/dungeon they need while referencing the map. Zephyr 00:01, August 3, 2011 (UTC)
I apologize for thinking that you were politely welcoming me to the site, and for considering my suggestion of adding a "Places" (or 'World Navigation') link to the drop down. Also, most new users might not think to click on the header of the drop down to get to 'World Navigation'. All users do not know that the header is linked to a page.Blianbourne 01:50, August 3, 2011 (UTC)
On the contrary, I had moused over the People and Places drop down menu multiple times before while looking for places. Not finding them there I was forced to use the search box to get to the corresponding page. It wasn't until recently I realized I could just click on the heading to be taken to a page that had all the locations listed. Call me a wiki noob, because I kind am, but still, its a drop down menu with an arrow pointing down. The assumption on first glace is that you must pick from the drop down selections, not click on the button. It is also a bit strange because under a people and places category I didn't expect to find class, arts, and formations information. I would have first thought to look for it in game mechanics or walk throughs. I know where it all is now so it isn't a big deal, but I know how users new to the wiki feel about navigating at first. Does the wiki only allow 4 topic drop down headers?Koroem 03:47, August 3, 2011 (UTC)
Under the previous skin, all 5 selections were there. The 5th header is just a generic Browse button. I kinda figured since the pointer would change into the hand when hovering over it, users would have gotten the clue that it was a link. If it weren't a link, then no change and it also wouldn't show the address on your browser (bottom left if using Firefox). Either way, I've added the Locations category to the list if people are really having that much trouble not realizing that it's a link... Zephyr 04:16, August 3, 2011 (UTC)
Ahh thank you. It's my first time having a wikia. I think I made a mistake.. I accidentally upload a picture on my page, well I thought I can upload anything I can.. Anyway I can't find any delete button. Do you know how to delete it? Thank you and sorry T__T - Seraphine 22:39, August 7, 2011 (UTC)
You can remove it from your page just by deleting the [[File:Rin 01.png|right]] bit. If you want to permanently delete it from the database, then you'd have to have an admin do that. So, do you want it permanently deleted? Or just from your page? Zephyr 23:21, August 7, 2011 (UTC)
I guess just from my page then.. But I can't find any delete button..even under the "edit" tab.. - Seraphine 20:51, August 8, 2011 (UTC)
OK, I removed it from your page. It's just editing your profile and removing the little bit of code. You can go into the page's history to see what I did. Zephyr 21:03, August 8, 2011 (UTC)
I can't find any code changes.. I guess my intelligent for this kind of thing is suck 110% lol... anyway thank you so much for removing it :) - Seraphine 20:41, August 10, 2011 (UTC)

thank you

Thank you for welcoming me at this wiki-world-project ;). So far no questions, what's no wonder after being completely new. At least I love TLR and i've managed to complete it at normal difficulty. Now figuring out whats behind hard mode and enjoying the game. So i appreciate this wiki very much and i try to help - better say to fix - where i can. But do not expect any new from me, i am the phantastic writer guy, not the technical expert :p

Athlum's Hope 16:41, August 3, 2011 (UTC)

Sorry to say, but that message is automated. But welcome anyways.

Thanks for the link. Have you noticed this? After constantly dealing a lot of damage, the enemy will become groggy/lose morale even though his HP maybe full and after a short while the enemy gets killed instantly by a single hit whatever damage that hit may do. Most of the times, the morale gauge is in my favor but sometimes he dies even if it is in his favor. --MohsinMan99 05:06, August 6, 2011 (UTC)

That's because all the trainer does is freeze the union HP, but not the unit HP. Eventually, you'll just kill the union because unit HP reaches 0. Takes about x2.3 the unit's HP to accomplish that. Zephyr 05:11, August 6, 2011 (UTC)

Unique/Generic Leaders with shields

Hello, I probably just missed this in the search somehow but just in case here is a list of Unique/Generic Leaders who use shields(PC, don't know if they're different for xbox360) that I've compiled from the wiki list of characters.

Anios
Bertha
Curtis
David Nassau - Unique Leader
Elliot
Gabriel- Unique Leader
Jackie
Jared
Joline
Jorgen (Adventurer)- Unique Leader
Kate- Unique Leader
Kurz
Lamda
Linus
Maddox- Unique Leader

Proteus
Reda
Sandra
Sapphire
Scarlet
Semry
Shumer
Spike
Tabatha
Thelma
Torres
Tyler
Vinnery
Westa
Wyatt

Just thought I'd give it to you in case you wanted to add it or something. If you don't feel like doing it or if it would be too much work that's fine as well. I didn't want to try adding it myself since I have no clue on how to edit/add stuff in wiki and might break something ^^. Fezzul 08:56, August 7, 2011 (UTC)

If a unit uses a shield, it would already be included on their page. It's also the same across both versions. Zephyr 14:45, August 7, 2011 (UTC)

Update

Hi, finally I have a stable internet now I can edit again. I see that you've updated the wikia.--Remnant13 02:55, August 12, 2011 (UTC)

Arts users?

I was just looking through the arts section, and noticed in the skills pages that a select few units were listed for the skills, but not all. For instance, looking under item arts, then herbs, then restorative herb, several leaders and soldiers are listed, but by no means all of them. My question is simply was it intended at some point to have these lists be complete or was it meant to be brief?

The reason I ask is because I like to go searching for specific unit types, and the current setup isn't well geared toward this. Is there a search function or page that is suited toward finding units in that manner? Also I noticed the units with shields listed above by Fezzul and actually found it useful for finding alternate shield users for a play through I'm planning. I was also looking for specific wield and weapon type users, such as power grip katana users, two hand staff users who focus more on combat arts, or dual wield axe users. Just really specific setups for variety. Is there a place on the wiki for lists such as these? If not is there any objection to members creating them? --Koroem 04:32, August 12, 2011 (UTC)

I was thinking about that for a little while. I had created something about half a year ago here. It really depends on how in-depth you want to go. Do you want every leader? I can pull up all the PC data, but I can't say the same for the X360 data. I don't want to create charts just for one version only to leave the other behind. It wouldn't be fair to them. I had also just finished adding everyone's default WS to their respective pages. The problem I see right now is separating them based on whether it's a default Skill or a learned one for uniques. Maybe something like this?
Unit Race Main Off Wield Init. Skills New Skills
Rush Mitra None None None Herbs Mystic Arts
Item Arts
David Mitra M-sized Sword S-sized Shield One-Handed Invocations
Herbs
Remedies
Shards
Just a quick mockup. Something like that? The problem I see right now is either shoving all the leaders onto one page (which I have no problem with), or separating the generics from the uniques (which is also OK, but then they will likely ignore the generics). Zephyr 04:50, August 12, 2011 (UTC)
Yeah that wouldn't be so bad. I was making my own lists by going through the units one by one, and coming up with a notepad list like this
Irina (Mitra) - 2 hand staff - Remedies/Lotions
Wyatt (Mitra) - 1h katana/shield - Hexes
Acokus (Qsiti) - Dual wield sword
Veronica (Mitra) - power grip axe - Herbs
plus tens of other units just listing them like this and found it tiring to do after a while, and kept wishing there was a link I could click that would just list all these together. For shield it could be as simple as creating separate tables/sections for unique leaders, generic leaders, and soldiers, then further separating each of those by weapon type with a table header. So all unique leaders with one hand axes and shield would be listed together, all generic leaders with shield and one hand katanas would be listed together.
As far as the arts are concerned I'd say all units capable of using that type of art doesn't matter if it is initially or learned it would just have to be noted which. It sounds more complicated then it would actually be, just wondering if there is a way I can start prototyping one. Question I have though since I'm relatively new to wiki's is there room to make multiple pages without linking them to main articles while I work on it, so I don't effect the wiki in a negative way. Perhaps on my profile's talk or blog page? I don't mind working on PC tables, but I don't have the xbox version so fairness I guess can only go so far. --Koroem 05:20, August 12, 2011 (UTC)
You can do what I've (and many others) done and just create a page for yourself to fiddle around in. I've got this and this going. I've already got all the WS, WT, weapon sizes and whatnot all written down somewhere (amongst at least 50 pages of notes). The generic leaders will be easy as their Skills are static. Unique leaders would need an extra column for learned and likely the BR they will ask about the Skill to help with planning that sort of thing. ^ Added columns to the initial mockup. The other way to do it is to add new categories, though that will make several units' category area look very crowded and messy so I would advise against that idea. You can use this page to order the leaders and soldiers, which is based on the game's internal ordering and is essentially their "availability". I was originally going to put their Skills and WS into the mix, but it got a little crowded. Still might at some point... Zephyr 05:50, August 12, 2011 (UTC)
Alright sounds good. I'll mock one up using Fezzul's shield list above for starters. I'm not sure if there are any table/editing tools in the editing/creation process but if not the mark up for the wiki code looks simple enough to work with. I'll start it tonight and probably finish it at some point after work tomorrow. I'll try to at least get my basic template down now I guess. Koroem 06:26, August 12, 2011 (UTC)
Just be sure to specify the equip size if you're including that as it's important for equip requests and to prevent a possible surprise for those reading it. It doesn't really bother me if it's not there as I've almost memorized what certain units use, but for those looking for specific things, it would be helpful. Like a bunch of them with L-sized shields now outfitted to run around with Shield of the Vanquisher. Zephyr 06:35, August 12, 2011 (UTC)
Not a problem. I'm pulling the info from their initial equipment when hired, does that seem ok? I've finished a mockup of what I was thinking. Not sure if it is too busy, or just enough info. Also I somehow managed to make a page not tied to my user account. Not sure if that is an issue. Here it is so far: Shield Users Let me know what you think or if you have any suggestions. Koroem 08:02, August 12, 2011 (UTC)
I've moved it to your user page so you can work on it there for now. You can move it back after you're done. Pulling from their initial equipment is fine as they won't suddenly change WT or weapon size, save for a few select units. If you want to create a page tied to your user page, just add a slash and whatever you're going to name it. By the way... "Huge" is labelled as "LL" in-game. As much as I would prefer to have the exact levels of their Skills displayed, not many will really know what it means. Looks good so far. Zephyr 14:30, August 12, 2011 (UTC)
I think this should be woven together with its weapon and arts to make it more neat and to avoid making multiple pages although it would to better that way.--Remnant13 09:14, August 12, 2011 (UTC)
OK thanks for the move. Two more quick questions before I get too involved into it. The background colors I'm using for race is ripped straight from the generic soldier tables. Is there a way to darken the colors up a little bit? They are so light it is hard to tell the colors apart from white unless I stand across the room and look at either of my screens. Doesn't have to be changed on the soldier page, but for these tables I can't seem to figure out how to define the class colors. The other question is how do I make a table sortable? Similar to how the soldiers are sortable in the tier breakdowns. Not sure I'll use it on this stuff, but I'd like to know in case I find a use for it. --Koroem 14:43, August 12, 2011 (UTC)
The colours look to be in #FFFFFF format, so you might want to look that up. I don't have any problem seeing the colours on my end. To make a table sortable, you have to define its class {|class="sortable" should do the trick. Zephyr 14:52, August 12, 2011 (UTC)

Ok i feel like a noob trying to figure this color thing out. Where is this template calling it's color information from? I've slashed it to show the code. Template = soldier color label //{|style="width: 50%" class="standard soldier" |class="mitra"|Green = Mitra |class="qsiti"|Yellow = Qsiti |class="yama"|Blue = Yama |} My best guess is from where ever the mitra, qsiti, and yama classes are defined but I can't seem to find it. Also defining a table as a sortable class doesn't make it sortable, so I can't for the life of me figure out what I'm doing wrong. Again sorry to bother you with this. Koroem 15:47, August 12, 2011 (UTC)

Not sure where all the custom formats are stored. For making something sortable, you have to define it as sortable first before defining the width. I'll have to poke at much older pages to see what's going on. Doubt I'll find anything and the users that made the classes have disappeared. Zephyr 16:18, August 12, 2011 (UTC)
Ok then I'll just probably scrap the old class styles and just define some new ones or leave it as is, haven't decided yet, and it isn't a huge deal. Just got back from working so I'll probably spend some time on it in a little while after I eat. Thanks for dealing with me. Oh actually one more thing, on the skills/arts pages, is there a template that is used for the units who have the skills available or is it on each page individually? I figured since I'm going to be going through a lot of the units looking for weapons and such it would make sense to update those as I go.Koroem 22:18, August 12, 2011 (UTC)
It's on their pages individually because each unit starts at a different level. It uses a template to define what level the arts are. Like this:

{{art invocations||5|4|4|3|3|2|1||}} results in this:

If you looked at the link to my blog I posted, you might have seen a few funny little numbers here and there like "OH 2". Those are their corresponding levels from the game data (One-Handed 2 = Knee Splitter), which would then translate to the arts they start with. You can use the "What links here" button on each of the Rank C arts to see exactly who starts with the arts. For those who ask about them, you'll have to look it up as it'll just link to the general IA or MA page. You can use that chart as a quick reference for when they ask about all their arts since it's already there. I'm just reworking it a bit for the guide I'm working on. Anyways, I'm supposed to help. Zephyr 23:15, August 12, 2011 (UTC)
Perhaps I worded that wrong. I'm talking about pages like Restore and Restorative Herb. Ynfry is a generic leader who can use both, yet he isn't listed on these pages, but generic soldiers are. I was talking about filling in these gaps, and was wondering if that section called "Used by" had a template associated to it. That way if Ynfry can use all remedies, I only have to change it on the template rather than on all 7 skills in Remedies individually. Sorry if I wasn't clear. Koroem 02:18, August 13, 2011 (UTC)
You mean the User List templates. Here. Knock yourself out. All the soldiers should already be there because that's critical to a X360 game. After all, up to 6 units can be leaders (really 5 because of Rush), so the limited space means that X360 players should locate exactly what they want. Only a few generic leaders are listed because most of them are average to below average, or are exceptions to the usual rule (Aquarius having Psi and wards). I did the Psi one as I kinda remember every Psi user in the game, which admittedly isn't hard. Zephyr 02:55, August 13, 2011 (UTC)
Great exactly what I was looking for. After more testing it really seems like sortable tables are either broken or only allowed to be made by certain users. I can copy my tables to any other wikia site and they become sortable. Same code here doesn't work. Strange. Koroem 04:02, August 13, 2011 (UTC)
Just as a follow up on this, I'm just about done the leaders on the skill pages. The lists have filled out a bit more, and as a result I had to edit the mystic arts template. It was only setup to display columns of 8 up to a total of 30 names. Going past this caused it to run off the screen and disappear behind the info boxes on the skill pages. What I did was changed it to allow columns of up to 13 so more could fit. Problem with it is that it knocked the soldier heading out of alignment so I need to figure out how to fix it. It shouldn't be too hard to do but I'll be heading to bed soon and didn't want you to think I left it all screwed up without care. I should be able to have the lists finished and the alignments fixed by the end of tomorrow. Koroem 07:22, August 13, 2011 (UTC)
I was checking a few things before heading for sleep and refreshed the page to see if anything's changed. I've clarified the Tier 11 soldiers as they don't exist on the PC and already saw the changes to the template so I figured that you will either fix it at some point soon, or I'll deal with it soon(er). Zephyr 07:26, August 13, 2011 (UTC)
I'm working on it now. I seem to have it fixed in newer versions of Firefox, but for some reason IE and older Firefox versions don't see the changes. Kind of annoying. It might be down to a bug in CSS styles for IE though. I'm going to keep working on it.
  • UPDATE* I figured out the issue is some kind of caching bug on the wiki. Browsers aren't pulling the new edits to this particular layout/template when the edits are made. There is a simple way to demonstrate if if you are interested in seeing it. Otherwise, the layout is fixed in that the soldier heading is no longer misaligned. If it is still offset on your screen, it is a caching bug as I mentioned. Koroem 18:05, August 13, 2011 (UTC)
Hm... I do recall some of the edits not showing properly a while ago. Zephyr 19:38, August 13, 2011 (UTC)
Yup infact if you want to see it in action check out the Spark page. The names should all have a border around them, and where it says soldier, it should have REFRESHTEST written next to it. If you do not see it. Go to this page: Template:Mystic_art_users and check the edits. You should see the border set to 1, and the SoldierREFRESHTEST there. If you complete a publish without changing anything, your browser will then show the differences. But it only happens if you do this process. Or perhaps my editing has been set to admin approval or something, because on two other computers not logged into this wiki, my recent edits on this talk page are not showing up. Koroem 19:44, August 13, 2011 (UTC)
It's more likely an issue with the site as I haven't done anything other than change to the new wiki editor. And I can't set something to be approved by an admin anyways; there's no such option. The most I can do is protect a page, which would just limit editing to confirmed users. Zephyr 19:55, August 13, 2011 (UTC)
Ok then, it is pretty clear something isn't working right on this site then. Koroem 20:00, August 13, 2011 (UTC)
Temporary solution to viewing edits is adding this after the URL in the browser address bar ?action=purge It only works on the users end, on that browser and page. It doesn't carry over to the page itself. Seeing this it is definately a caching issue on this site. Is there any admin function that allows for total purging of the cache? Koroem 21:28, August 13, 2011 (UTC)
I would have to contact the wikia staff about purging the cache. It's not in any of the options on my dashboard. If it's still not displaying properly after 24 hours, I'll have to contact them about this. It does happen on occasion, so it's not really anything site-breaking. Zephyr 21:39, August 13, 2011 (UTC)

Is it to much to ask for splitting the 605 MB Map scan rar file to a manageable 100 MB rar part.--Remnant13 05:15, August 19, 2011 (UTC)

Nope, not a problem. I don't think I can get it uploaded in the next 2 hours, but I should have it up within the next 12 hours or so. It's getting pretty late and I had a pretty mind-numbing day dealing with data entry... Zephyr 05:21, August 19, 2011 (UTC)

Map Question

I don't think I'll be home for quite sometime and I can't play the game to confirm stuff. What exactly is the name of the locked door in Dillmoor, Lavafender, Mojcado Castle, Ruins of Robelia Castle and The Fourth Path for the Map.--Remnant13 02:07, August 25, 2011 (UTC)

I don't know off the top of my head, but I can probably get that info within a day or so. Haven't really been playing as I've been trying to calculate some stuff. Zephyr 02:12, August 25, 2011 (UTC)
Well, that didn't take too long~ Forgot that I had a save that was pretty much at endgame but with nothing finished.
  • Dillmoor: Plateau Door
  • Mojcado Castle: Mojcado Door
  • Robelia: Old Door (if sealed, then "Sealed Door")
  • The Fourth Path: Empyreal Door
  • Lavafender: Blazing Door
That should be it. Zephyr 02:42, August 25, 2011 (UTC)

Here. Some of the spawn tables may need some tweaking, and I'm not sure about how to group the Aveclyff spawns just yet. The wiki groups the areas slightly differently than the guide, so it's a bit of a mess. Zephyr 06:00, September 12, 2011 (UTC)

Just wanna ask.

hi Zephyr135 i just wanna ask about Mobs Skill Deathtouch in my PC it's was Mystic Arts who deals Physical damage. (i got message Mystic Arts Sealed when i deal Silence to it.like Bone skill. and in ancient ruins rockgater deals no damage with it's blaster skill (i got this skill about hundreds times so i can confirm this) it's just me or anyone got this to? oh and can i write faqs in this wiki in different language (for my friends who can't read english. thanks. LordCerberus 10:11 PM, August 25, 2011 (UTC)

I'm fairly sure Deathtouch is a Combat Art that deals Mystic damage as I've had many units block it only to show blue text and is stopped by paralyzing the target. It's also protected against with Orphic Ward. I'm also fairly sure that Bone is a Mystic Art that deals physical damage. Blaster dealing 0 damage shouldn't be possible. Maybe close to damage, but never exactly 0. Maybe because you have Orphic Ward up? Because the 1000s of times I've seen the art, it always dealt damage unless I had Orphic Ward in play.
You can write guides in a different language, but I would keep it in within your userpage since this wiki is geared towards English-speaking players. I will move pages accordingly. Romangelo did exactly that about a year ago. Zephyr 15:51, August 25, 2011 (UTC)

Zephyr135 , are you sure to the Fallen Angel Arts are "correct" ? :) i can confirm (for the PC) he uses poison gas V at BR58 , just look here at the 4 screens from august 27 , (before , infight with PG5 , win , loot) are taken some minutes ago i write this here --Jake Farrell 15:27, August 27, 2011 (UTC)

Yep. I'm sure. It's the enemy's BR that's listed on the site, not your BR. Zephyr 15:36, August 27, 2011 (UTC)
something new to me , even if i played now nearly 600hours, but its still great :)

Quote : Zephyr:I'm fairly sure Deathtouch is a Combat Art that deals Mystic damage as I've had many units block it only to show blue text and is stopped by paralyzing the target.Zephyr

i think you wrote it wrong silience not paralyzed.

and since you agree with that i think the table for mobs skill must be updated. http://lastremnant.wikia.com/wiki/Enemy_Arts the writing in there still combat arts and the effect still none.

oh i am sorry i didn't write it complete, about the blaster, it's Just For Rockgater, the other mobs did damage but it's for Rockgater ancient ruins ONLY.... it didn't do ANY damage just status (silience, poison & paralyze)or resist (no ophic ward) <== engine error or "something special" ???

--LordCerberus 11:40PM, August 28, 2011 (UTC)

No... I typed that right. Deathtouch is a Combat Art that deals Mystic damage and can be paralyzed against because it's a Combat Art. You can tell by the enemy animations too. If it were a Mystic Art, then the Phantom enemies would cast it, not shoot it. I just tested this out and repeated it multiple times. And I'm playing it in English just to make sure that I"m not blind. Would you like me to take screens proving this? I've even forced the enemy to cast Protection on my team. The damage still goes through, proving that it's mystic in nature. And the effect is "None" because it doesn't do anything but deal damage. Also, what mode? I play exclusively on Hard so the damage from Blaster tends to go over 9999 against my unions. Zephyr 19:04, August 28, 2011 (UTC)

Is there a way for me to track down broken links in this wikia like in the "What Links Here" page.Remnant13 12:06, September 2, 2011 (UTC)

You know how to get to the Special Pages part, right? Wanted Pages is where you want to look. I just checked, and a lot of them are actually misspellings. There doesn't seem to be any need to correct anything else right now. Zephyr 14:02, September 2, 2011 (UTC)

So I'm still far from the ancient ruins can you confirm there are Oblivion Wing's at locations A/B-6, E/F-14, and I-12 Metopon Tier: Notus. LastRemnant13 Rush-Icon 02:06, September 20, 2011 (UTC)
Metopon: Notus? If we're looking at the map on the Ancient Ruins page, it's G-3, K-1, and 3~4 of them in the Terror Wing room. The coordinates were never corrected on the Oblivion Wing's page... I'll get a confirmation later "tomorrow" (timezone differences...). I have no idea why some of the maps are oriented the way they are other than to pinpoint the starting point. They should really be displayed as they are in-game. Zephyr 02:20, September 20, 2011 (UTC)
Actually the ancient ruins doesn't have a map unless you use a trainer or other programs that's why some maps are wrong like the Grammi Tier: Anatoray which has a room at the back, Ancient Ruins - Grammi Tier: Disith has wrong orientation and the Choros Tier which has multiple copies when you zoom out, it wasn't fixed by the game developers since it wasn't implemented in game that's the reason why I flipped Grammi Tier: Disith and Choros map. LastRemnant13 Rush-Icon 02:44, September 20, 2011 (UTC)
They're just dummied out of normal play, but it would still make them the official orientations. Anyways, I corrected the Oblivion Wing's spawn points on its page. Found the original map it was based off of. Zephyr 02:48, September 20, 2011 (UTC)

Take your time there still plenty of editing to go around before I start with the city map. LastRemnant13 Rush-Icon 16:30, September 21, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks! by the way I just got home for the first time in 3 weeks, played it in Japanese audio, load up some saves I was surprised that Hinnah and Emmy's voice is way cuter though I was disappointed by the Conqueror it was so not threatening, one more thing Irina shouted "big brother" at the end right.Rush-IconRemnant13  12:22, September 26, 2011 (UTC)
The Conqueror actually isn't that hostile if you think about it. He's really there to observe how the world is living with the Remnants, then acting out if they're being mistreated (which they were). Really, what did you expect when his hobby turns out to be "observation"? When you have Sawashiro voicing a character, you could almost expect her to sound cute. Take a listen to Celty (Durarara!!), Aegis (Persona 3), Sice (FF Type-0), etc. "お兄ちゃん" can be taken as "big brother", though it's really just "brother". Depends on context. Thank you for banning that spammer. Hopefully we can get the site back into it's normal order. --Brokendwarf 15:34, September 29, 2011 (UTC)

No problem. I had just woken up, so this was not exactly what I wanted to see. I'll be cleaning up the pics now. Zephyr 15:35, September 29, 2011 (UTC)

I have the PC version of Last Remnant, but whenever I try to play it, I get a message saying "TLR.exe has stopped working." I'm not sure what the problem is, but it's reallying annoying me because I really want to play it and haven't been able to since I got it. Any suggestions? --Brokendwarf 00:04, October 23, 2011 (UTC)

Not sure. You may need to be connected to Steam in order to play it. The .exe I use has the protection removed so I can play it without an internet connection. You can find a link to it on this page. Zephyr 00:20, October 23, 2011 (UTC)

Delete Previous Maps

Hi, Since I made a lot of mistakes from making them can you delete my previous maps so people can save the right ones. P.S. I will not be active this week since I have plenty of school work plus it's my birthday I'm celebrating it with my friends, classmates and my family at Saturday so I'm pretty much busy this week.

Rush-IconRemnant13  12:28, October 6, 2011 (UTC)

Sure. I'm probably going to be a little busy for the next little while since I'm getting new bow parts, making arrows and needing to continue tuning everything. Plus, the club wants me to shoot for them even though I don't attend classes there anymore, so I'll be in training with them. I'm currently in a little bit of pain... Well, Good Luck!Rush-IconRemnant13  14:58, October 6, 2011 (UTC)

So I'm trying to buy the item Cúchulainn's Heart, but it says I need a trade rank C in gems. What bugs me is that I have no idea what this means. --Brokendwarf 17:29, October 12, 2011 (UTC)

It means that you have to sell enough captured monsters that give points towards Gems before it unlocks. Amoeba, Crab, Dragon, Landworm, Manticore, Phantom and Spiritlord type captures are what you're looking to sell. You need 43 points for it, so probably need to sell about 30~40 of them, assuming that you're selling rares as well. Zephyr 17:38, October 12, 2011 (UTC)

Profile Pic

That's why your profile pic looks so familiar its from Chaos Legion my friend used to play it in PS2 though I haven't played it myself I really love hack & slash games like the Devil May Cry series but I still prefer Shooting and RPG games.

Rush-IconRemnant13  02:57, October 13, 2011 (UTC)

Yep. I found the soundtrack lying around in one of my HDDs and started listening to it again. Then I went off to find my PS2 copy, couldn't find it, nabbed the PC version, then found my PS2 copy, and now am playing both at the same time. If you want to play it, go for the PS2 version. The PC version has a few quirks that are a little awkward to deal with, including screwed up hitboxes. I'm amused that he carries a shovel. Zephyr 14:48, October 13, 2011 (UTC)

Inactivity

Hi, It's been a longtime since I've logged in here I was busy running the Guilty Gear wikia sorry!. I'll have those map updates in the next two weeks or so. Rush-IconRemnant13  08:14, November 10, 2011 (UTC)

Ah, it's no big deal. I poked at the total number of edits you had and kinda figured that you were working on another wiki. I would have sent a message at some point if I thought something didn't seem right. Zephyr 09:08, November 10, 2011 (UTC)

Just wanted to say thanks for the greetings, see you around 04:45, November 14, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the last message regarding HP talk, thought that was very informative. Is that stated anywhere?

Interesting to see your play through choices/lists.

Currently on my just my second play through, went mostly combat first go round, going 100% MA this time. I've got one group for each of the arcana except for the last two which are actually both to be covered by rush.

well.. back to my the vpn and my digital signals homework ><

Hey can you edit the Observer monster page? it says that the monster can be blacked out when on the xbox it for sure can't. Sorry if i dont sign correctly this is my first time writing a message here. --71.229.150.191 07:00, November 27, 2011 (UTC)BC

And it can definitely be Piyo'ed on the PC (it's one of the tricks I use). Are you sure that it resisted something like Stun Trap, Snare Shot and high tier CAs, not some other ailment? The Oculus class doesn't have immunity to being blacked out. You can discuss this in its talk page until absolute confirmation is achieved. Zephyr 07:14, November 27, 2011 (UTC)

you unedited my world timber tree thing :(

I added that, because i got like 14 world timbers from the fiery gates PC

58.69.161.6just tryin to help :D

14 World Tree Timbers sounds a little much from 1 unit, doesn't it? By that number, it would be logical to conclude that it wasn't the Gates dropping it, but those Remnant Guards (whose page I created for that purpose). Zephyr 18:23, November 27, 2011 (UTC)

Yes, it resisisted a Snare Shot 3.--71.229.150.191 18:24, November 27, 2011 (UTC)

In that case... Care to do a little testing for me? Try to Piyo as many Oculus enemies as you can. I have a feeling that it's a minor change from the X360 to the PC, removing its immunity to Piyo. And in case you think I'm lying, here's a screen from a vid I made about 1.5 years ago against the Observer.

Sure i'll test it out when I can, right now im working on some theories for The Fallen, but i had Sheryl in a group of 5 in Orb formation when Snare Shot hit it and it resisted so this could be weird.--71.229.150.191 23:25, November 27, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks, much appreciated. What kind of theories are you working on for The Fallen? Story or mechanics? Zephyr 23:46, November 27, 2011 (UTC)

Mostly Mechanics, like what formations could be best used at the time before you go into Undelwalt, and what an applicable union setup would be.--71.229.150.191 23:49, November 27, 2011 (UTC)

That can be incredibly variable... Super unions in the Mystic Shield formation, 4~5 unions, variable union sizes (I used a 1-unit union as part of my setup in my most recent run and it worked better than I thought), damage output variances based on player preference (combat vs. mystic (vs. items for PC~)), access to DLC/bonus formations, etc. Zephyr 00:06, November 28, 2011 (UTC)

Yup, theres a lot that goes into it, so im posting some of my findings on another forum at the moment.--71.229.150.191 01:05, November 28, 2011 (UTC)

Another Oculus resisted a Black out, this time from Blackmoon in the Final Fortress from the Third Path entrance. A parry black out by the way too.--71.229.150.191 01:59, December 2, 2011 (UTC)

Out of curiosity, do you happen to have Star Ocean: Second Story for PS?

It's been one of my favorites for a long time and I just noticed there's no walkthrough wikia for it. If you have it and have some time would you be interested in helping out? - Tehvamper 20:58, December 2, 2011 (UTC)

I've only played a little bit of the PSP version, unless you mean Till the End of Time, which is for the PS2. I don't know enough about the SO games to really be of much help and I'm still learning my way around the various wiki code. But sure, I'll help with keeping the place clean since I do try setting aside time for a little wiki poking. Zephyr 21:18, December 2, 2011 (UTC)
Doh, my brain stuck a 2 in there by accident, it's a PS One game. The story aspect can be picked up from the exist SO History wikia. There's just no wikia for the game itself and how one goes about getting each ending. So I'm going to try and compile my knowledge into a complete source of ending. It's really just time consuming because SO:SS has two character lines which have a total of 86 or 87 endings... I've only completed 3 of them myself. - Tehvamper 21:30, December 2, 2011 (UTC)
Right... those relation points type of endings... Never got the point of having that many endings. How many of them are actually unique? Zephyr 22:03, December 2, 2011 (UTC)
Well from what I've heard all the endings are unique, they all feature different Characters, mostly in pairs. I've fought the urge to look at the endings I haven't achieved myself so other than the three I've seen I don't know for sure. Anywho, the wiki is up here Star Ocean: Second Story, I'll be working on it through the night hopefully get all the Character Bio's done and adding all the Categories. - Tehvamper 22:28, December 2, 2011 (UTC)

Alright thank you.--71.229.150.191 04:14, December 3, 2011 (UTC)

Would you know for sure if Harpylias spawn in the Third Path? I've been in and out over 20 times and haven't seen them once, maybe its just my bad luck too for all i know.--71.229.150.191 05:32, December 4, 2011 (UTC)

I've seen them many times in my PC playthroughs. Haven't quite gotten that far in the X360, but I don't doubt their existence there because they're listed in the area's spawn tables. I don't think you need to go past certain story events for them to spawn. They are secondary monsters, something that's shared with all the rares and 2 other secondaries, so it may take a while before you see them. Four spots based on the maps here: O11 - D4 - N3 - F12. Zephyr 05:42, December 4, 2011 (UTC)

Yes, finally got them to pop up, and is it possible for monsters to become paralyzed on the map before getting into a battle?--71.229.150.191 06:07, December 4, 2011 (UTC)

Yep, although I have no idea why that happens~ I've seen Ancbolders and Terrapests in the Ruins paralyzed before. Zephyr 06:09, December 4, 2011 (UTC)

Weird, it just happened with Harpylias and Arachnids for some reason now too. And for some reason i just killed several Harpylias and have both The Daily Phantom and Phantom Weekly and didnt get 1 Tough Phantom Husk, would this be normal?--71.229.150.191 06:15, December 4, 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, that's pretty normal. A 15% drop rate isn't the greatest thing to work with. Save and kill, then reload if you don't get anything, especially when dealing with the Daily Magazine drops. Zephyr 06:21, December 4, 2011 (UTC)

Alright will do, thanks.--71.229.150.191 06:33, December 4, 2011 (UTC)

thanks to your quick response.

maybe you're right, that I misread the thing regarding significance, I didn't notice it at all that weapon types are also a part of skill level balancing.

I obviously relied much on converting my Tech-type arts (from Katanas) to Pow-type which is back then, is only an Axe weapon. I just lately discovered a Pow-type Katana (Scimitar) on my comeback, that I should be using that Weapon more often than I do with that Axe.

If only I get into my hands that Scimitar earlier, I won't be wasting time increasing my Axe immediately before Katana prior to targeting a Ninja Class.

My other file would be

BR:20 (Meeting in Nagapur) Str: 39 Int: 33

Sword: 4 Katana: 1 Axe: 2 Dual Wield: 11 One-Handed: 1

Invocation: 2 Evocation: 1 Remedies: 5

Herbs: 6 Lotions: 1

but its waaayy too long... unless I found out something of my interest to play that file. What else could I missed that would really be important aside that I missed that At Hatred's End quest only?

Anyway thanks for the advice, and since I won't having any progression right now, I need a 27 total of Mystics Skill levels to be a Ninja, that's 10 levels away... Thanks for the advice. :)

It's not that bad if you concentrate on using the "high mystics" since they require less EXP to go up in level. The only real problem with them is that they're a little more conditional (requires low HP union, low morale, no stat buffs, etc., depending on the Skill). The other thing you could have done was not use Items, but that's kinda unavoidable in the early game since Herbs is the most reliable healing source until you level Rem up to 6 for Revitalize. You're actually right about the Item/Mystic significance thing. You just applied it to the wrong part. The average between Items and Mystics to determine which one is significant is used for the Item/Mys balance. Zephyr 01:18, December 11, 2011 (UTC)

-Im trying to complete a Weaponmaster task for Ring of the Labyrinth and its requiring a Demonblade which Khrynia has as her weapon, but thats not completing the task and i dont want to go thru the hassle of tracking down components to make one otherwise, can you troubleshoot? I have Rank 4 for it to appear too.--71.229.150.191 20:42, December 11, 2011 (UTC)

You don't need Rank 4 if you're playing on the X360. And you're sure that it's a Demonblade and not a higher customization? Superior and Superlative versions don't count towards it. Zephyr 20:55, December 11, 2011 (UTC)

Yeah its just Demonblade, and one of its predecessors the Mermaids Malice is also another task, which leads up to the Demonblade, so my bet is that its glitched or it wont complete the task unless Rush himself is holding the weapon.--71.229.150.191 23:46, December 11, 2011 (UTC)

Hm... That shouldn't matter. I've finished a few of those tasks (on the X360 too) without Rush holding onto it. Just in the inventory or someone else holding it (Glenys + Daimyo Katana is a prime example) should be enough. It might be unintentionally glitched. Good thing you can find one in the Scared Lands... Zephyr 00:25, December 12, 2011 (UTC)

Also, i just wasted 3 hours of my time killing dread dragons hoping to get a Dragons liver, and after capturing 3, i noticed it has to be a regular dragon according to the wiki...So Aveclyff shoud work?--71.229.150.191 00:52, December 12, 2011 (UTC)

Nope. You're going to have to trek over to the Southwestern Road for that. Zephyr 00:59, December 12, 2011 (UTC)

Noooo The Lost is there...All hope is gone.--71.229.150.191 01:04, December 12, 2011 (UTC)

Er... kill it? I supposed that would be somewhat difficult if you're not prepared... Zephyr 01:21, December 12, 2011 (UTC)

The Lost was the only one I couldnt kill on my strong file, i honestly dont see how i could do it now. With the 5 turn limit and how i cant get any of the components i need, its hopeless.--71.229.150.191 01:33, December 12, 2011 (UTC)

How well can you shift morale? How many units do you have as Gladiators/Commanders? Got any "do or die" formations handy? The Battle Crown formation was surprisingly effective in one vid I watched. I'd try to throw as many Bluffs, Mixed Messages and Traps I could at it while ordering a few others to try flanking with the "Wait for a chance!" command. If you can deal at least 150K/Turn, you should be safe, considering that's the bare minimum for PC players! Zephyr 01:50, December 12, 2011 (UTC)

No psionics specialists, only 3 gladiators and the strongest ones are already set in, no commanders, and ive got them all on mystic defense formations already, not much else i can make happen. Im attempting him on my strong file too one more time, but everytime he uses apocalypse, all the unions happen to be grouped together :/ --71.229.150.191 01:56, December 12, 2011 (UTC)

Took him down on the 3rd try, luckily Baulson's Heavens Door does 170,000 in addition to two of Jagers Beowulfs doing 100,000 each, for some reason, Emmy wanted to summon Namul Niram on that turn too so he became a martyr. But yay, its dead.--71.229.150.191 02:15, December 12, 2011 (UTC)

I guess you should consider yourself lucky that you don't have to cut through 730K without WAs reliably coming up to help. Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever seen a fight against The Lost with a summon active for either version... Zephyr 02:26, December 12, 2011 (UTC)

You dont get any options for that on the PC? I would think having 30 something leaders available at a time would activate WA's pretty easily. And yes thats definetly the first time ive ever had a chance to summon.--71.229.150.191 02:59, December 12, 2011 (UTC)

For myself, I tend to forget to toggle any sort of EA on (WAs, RWAs, UAs, etc) for a lot of fights. For when I do remember to toggle them on, I don't usually see them until the tail end or if I've been carefully raising union morale. It's because of the high union morale requirement that makes them that much more unreliable. So better to stick with smacking it with Rank S~SS arts. If they come up, great. If not, at least there's something that will at least hurt. I'd much rather not wait for a 600+ AP command to 5 units firing off their WAs. Zephyr 04:03, December 12, 2011 (UTC)

I forgot you have the option of toggling moves on and off. But wouldn't attacking something strong with 5 simultaneous WA's be, i dont know, fantastic?--71.229.150.191 23:50, December 12, 2011 (UTC)

You can hit the damage cap (999 999) if everything was heavily in your favour. It's pretty fun trying to pull that off against the Rank 8 Conqueror because he has almost 2M HP. The most important variable would be the union morale. Need around 600+ (a little over half full) for them to start being considered, which is about the same time as most other EAs. It's only difficult because of how much it fluctuates on the PC. It feels so much easier maxing out union morale on the X360... Zephyr 00:25, December 13, 2011 (UTC)

Yeah if it gets pretty low, you just start knockin down unions while healing and it goes up pretty fast, if that doesnt work, you werent meant to win the battle haha. When i have my squads stronger, ill take on the white conqueror passive aggressively and save up AP till it looks like i can go all-out.--71.229.150.191 00:45, December 13, 2011 (UTC)

Admin deletion

Could you move that page you deleted Quests Unavailable on Disc Two (or something close to that) to my talk page or something? I was using it. I know the data was available elsewhere, but not on one page.

And evidently admin deletions remove it where I can't even find a history of it.  : \

--Morris Darkstar 11:49, December 12, 2011 (UTC)

Moved it here. You could always make a blog post or page linked to your user page about it instead of creating an article. Zephyr 16:39, December 12, 2011 (UTC)
Thank you. I would have done something similar later, but I couldn't figure out how to find it.
The main reason I made that page was that I spent probably 5 hours across a few weeks poking around trying to figure out what the warnings were w/o reading the page Time to Save Irina, I didn't want to miss anything, but I also didn't want to look at the walk-through of an Act that I wasn't near yet. The first line of the page I made: "Here's the list of quests that are unavailable after you finish Disc One i.e.: Finish your first pass of The Aqueducts in Time to Save Irina." Is what I had been wanting to find and had looked for in several different ways. "Time to Save Irina" didn't tell me if I'd have big red-flag warnings before i did something that couldn't be easily reversed.
--Morris Darkstar 22:39, December 13, 2011 (UTC)
I believe that's what the Availability of Side Quests page was for, since it's sidequest related. All it does it list the sidequests that become available at specific story points and has when their cutoffs are right beside them. Zephyr 03:07, December 14, 2011 (UTC)
Yep, but ** Unavailable after The Aqueducts ** didn't mean anything to me at the time.  : )
--Morris Darkstar 09:39, December 14, 2011 (UTC)
It's fair enough warning. It's just a small note saying "hey, this quest closes if you do something in this location!" Vague enough to not spoil anything, but descriptive enough because it's a dungeon you have to get through. Zephyr 14:17, December 14, 2011 (UTC)
But to someone new to the game ** Unavailable after The Aqueducts ** doesn't mean anything. And there's no way to know ahead of time that it isn't a one-way door. I know now that you can back out of the Aqueducts and pickup a new unique leader and finish off the quests, but it had me really worried and playing cautiously for weeks. I'm shutting up now unless you wouldn't mind a bit longer footnote on Availability of Side Quests.
I guessed a seasoned adventurer would have taken the transporter position to be a clue that there's something coming up. It's been like that in a few dungeons, in fact. A transporter before the 4 qsiti in the Catacombs. A transporter right before fighting Namul Niram. And saving often to multiple slots. I think I had close to 10 saves during my first run. This game is meant to be played multiple times, so it's fine to make mistakes along the way. Zephyr 22:09, December 14, 2011 (UTC)

Im getting the Ring of the Labyrinth ranks, and for Euryale, he only spawns once and i just had Sesiidae spawn instead. Im guessing im screwed getting Rank 2 & 3? The task is still up in the guild even though based on this I've already completed it.--71.229.150.191 20:15, December 19, 2011 (UTC)

Nope, not screwed. The "does not respawn" bit refers to the monster respawning mechanic in place for rares. Just because Sesiidae spawns doesn't mean that Euryale won't. Just need to keep going in and out until you see what you need. If you've already killed it and it's not registering at the guild, then you're screwed. Zephyr 20:28, December 19, 2011 (UTC)

Oh boy well thats swell. Would you also happen to know how many accessories you can carry at once?--71.229.150.191 20:47, December 19, 2011 (UTC)

50. Zephyr 20:54, December 19, 2011 (UTC)

Rush Solo Grind

This is my first time leaving a message, so to the point. I've been doing the solo Rush grind trick in Robelia and I was doing fine until rush learned Pearless Devil's Due V. Now that he has learned it, I can no longer use combat arts at the beginning of the battle. So i've been using the defend yourself action, was this a bad choice?--AoiVIII 18:13, December 21, 2011 (UTC)

Not really. It just means that Peerless Devil's Due V is too expensive for Rush to use on Turn 1. Defending does help by reducing damage taken and charging AP for that Turn. What you'll probably want to do is stick him in the Orb formation while also giving him to help with his AP problem. Either charging it from damage (Balterosette, Bedazzling Anklets, Rubber Soul) or termination (Kelpie's Blessing, etc.), or by boosting his AP+ with Amulets. Zephyr 19:21, December 21, 2011 (UTC)

I was just wondering if it would mess up the trick if I had to use the defend yourself action.AoiVIII 21:05, December 21, 2011 (UTC)

Nope, not going to mess anything up. Just makes him Defend, so no EXP towards anything but HP (which requires him to get hit). Zephyr 21:28, December 21, 2011 (UTC)

I have been using 2 longswords and i'm actually thinking this was a bad idea because if I go bluesteel i'll lose all of the modifiers. should I just upgrade to the best longsword possible or just switch weapons. I think I started this because of the sword of seven but I don't remember anymore.AoiVIII 20:33, December 22, 2011 (UTC)

Your main focus has been using CAs, right? Then just upgrade the Longswords until you hit the Might Longsword customization. You keep the Power mod and add 30% to all DW CA damage. If you want to upgrade to the Bluesteel customization, then I hope you have the patience to nab all the materials to upgrade all the way to Shielding/Enchanted. The Bluesteel is fine for defensive purposes, but the Longswords are better for damage (the Might Tuck is even better, but that one switches mods). Zephyr 20:44, December 22, 2011 (UTC)

I have one more question. for just a pure CA run, what are the best formations to use? Is there one that is better then the rest or is it situational. Also, did BradyGames half-ass their guide?AoiVIII 21:27, December 22, 2011 (UTC)

Off the top of my head, Battle Crown (be careful with this one as it drops MYS and M.DEF to 0) and Trident (positions 4/5 really hurt INT and M.DEF). Those are endgame formations though. I don't own the BradyGames guide, but I do have scans. It's... pathetic when compared to the JP guides, which run at about 900 pages each and explain a few mechanics here and there, including a few command conditions that I didn't know about. I'm actually having trouble trying to grind Ancbolders in the AR. Everyone just says to fight one group and then do the reload trick but I can't seem to find out where the group is exactly and I also don't know the reload trick.AoiVIII 19:22, December 23, 2011 (UTC)

The Save-Reload trick is really easy. Shift one area away then save. When you reload the game and go back to where you fought the encounter, the enemy symbol will have respawned. Ancbolders are found in the Metopon Tier. The group I think they're referring to is the symbol right outside of a door in the Notus section. Then to respawn it, shift back into the Boreas section to save and reload. This is assuming that you manage to spawn the Ancbolders in the first place. Zephyr 20:31, December 23, 2011 (UTC)

So if I don't get the Ancbolders when I enter the Metopan Tier:Boreas, do I need to exit the Ancient Ruins or can I just go back to the Grammi Tier:Disith. Also, if there are demons in the Metopan tier that means there aren't any ancbolders correct?AoiVIII 21:17, December 23, 2011 (UTC)

You would need to exit the Ruins. You can check if there are Ancbolders when the Greater Demons are present, but practically all reports say that if the demons are present the Ancbolders aren't. Zephyr 21:41, December 23, 2011 (UTC)

For bonus talks with most leaders, do you have to go in then talk to them then leave again, or just enter and exit the area the number of times needed?--71.229.150.191 23:38, December 24, 2011 (UTC)

You have to enter and exit the city a certain number of times. Just exiting the city's area doesn't count. Zephyr 23:54, December 24, 2011 (UTC)

Im aware of this, i was just curious if i can go in and out of the city, then into the area the character is in, then talk to him/her, or just go into the city, then the area, then leave and it will still progress the conversation.--71.229.150.191 00:43, December 25, 2011 (UTC)

No need to talk to them every time you visit. You don't even need to enter the unit's area as anywhere will do. Only when the pops up. Zephyr 00:52, December 25, 2011 (UTC)

How to learn new formation?

Hello, trying to figure out how to upgrade Unicorn > Pegasus. Tried to google etc. but no banana :) Anyway , i have Unicorn III already , and found Pegasus , but it's not active. Thanks in advance for any answer.

--Antrahho 10:14, December 25, 2011 (UTC)

Depends on the version. Either way, you can look here for more info. Zephyr 16:35, December 25, 2011 (UTC)

Problem is that i picked formation from Mojcado Castle, but i cant use it, even tho i can use Unicorn 3, is there some trick to activate it? --Antrahho 17:44, December 25, 2011 (UTC)

P.S. Yes i used characters with speed requirements etc. but still Pegasus is not selectable in formation list. --Antrahho 17:45, December 25, 2011 (UTC)

P.S.II Sorry for spam, worked now, my mistake was that i understood that i need 5xSpeed OR 3xYama OR 3xSpecial , need all requirements to activate it, after recruiting Gaou = win :) Once again, sorry for spam, could have try it before, brain is sometimes slow :D --Antrahho 17:53, December 25, 2011 (UTC)

The requirements listed on the pages are what's required for each level, so you would need to satisfy all the conditions to perform the upgrade formation. Zephyr 17:55, December 25, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for your quick replies! It's pretty hard to find detailed information sometimes and all of the forums are at least 2 years old.AoiVIII 20:49, December 30, 2011 (UTC)

I'm actually having a lot of trouble coming up with leaders to have in my unions on the PC. I'm trying to have a mystic union this playthrough because I've never had one before. I only have 10 leaders out of 15 possible right now. I'm going to get Roberto, Maddox, Yuniver, and Zolean but beyond that i'm not sure. I currently have Loki, Rush, Nora, Pagus, David, Torgal, Emmy, Blocter, Caedmon, and Baulson. the rest are regular leaders and soldiers.AoiVIII 06:59, January 5, 2012 (UTC)

You should have access to... Rush, David, Emmy, Torgal, Blocter, Pagus, Loki, Nora, Caedmon, Baulson, Roberto, Leshau, Maddox, Violet, Gabriel, Rhagoh, Darien, Glenys and Gaou. That's 19 unique leaders to pick from if you're right after the Nest of Eagles (which you should be since you have Emmy). You will need to enter the Aqueducts once to get Gaou to spawn over in Baaluk, but he's definitely one of the stronger units you can hire right now. Zephyr 21:03, January 5, 2012 (UTC)

So who are some of your favorite mystics? out of the ones I have currently, Rush is the best and the other close seconds are Nora and Maddox.AoiVIII 22:45, January 5, 2012 (UTC)

Also, does it make sense to manually change David's main weapon to a 2-handed sword right now if I plan on giving him the Frostblade?AoiVIII

Rush is definitely a favourite once I hit NG+ since I place heavy emphasis on Psi and Wards. Paris is also decent to have around, again with the Psi+Wards thing. Aquarius also has that setup, but she's a generic (not that it should matter too much) and isn't available until you enter Undelwalt. I suppose Wyngale would also count, but I like using him slice things up or supporting with Traps. For offense, Maddox, Leshau, Yuniver, Zolean and Pagus. I might also stick Sheryl in there too since she's a decent caster.
You do know that David doesn't request the Frostblade anymore, right? If you give it to him, you run the risk of overwriting it. Plus, he loses the ability to block MAs while gaining quite the equip burden (5+2 vs. 13) once it's upgraded to the Frostblade Virtutis (which you would have to do yourself). You can switch him over to a L-sized Sword if you want, but it may be more trouble than it's worth. It's really your choice, but I would advise against it since it would lock him out of Assassin, which is arguably his best class (Alchemist is also up there, but expensive). Zephyr 00:30, January 6, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for that, I found out afterwards that Roberto asks for the Frostblade and not David. That still seems kind of iffy though because his with his regular upgrade he learns Holy Win. I have been using David as a CA character and I feel like that was the worst idea ever because of his wield style on the PC. I've only kept him because he will sometimes use the Gae Bolg or Ex Machina. I am also unsure of the ultimate PC grind. you have to sacrifice Glenys and Emmy's One Hundred Flowers to do it and One Hundred Flowers really saved me quite a lot on the xbox.AoiVIII 01:07, January 6, 2012 (UTC)

Hundred Flowers won't trigger until Emmy's union HP gets close to critical so it's really a moot point, unless you happen to want to keep her union critical all the time. I would say that it's OK to use the "ultimate" grind during the first playthrough just to get through it relatively unscathed, and only use it in subsequent playthroughs if training under the Mystic Seal is just too much (like say... Soldier Only Item Arts Only, which technically limits you to normal attacks + IAs). With the Mystic Seal, you can use almost anything as a punching bag (dragons are the best for this) without worrying too much about BR gains and killing the enemy too quickly.
As for David's WS. The OH style may be the weakest, but it's also one of the fastest (even better if modified for Speed). The other WS carry speed penalties in exchange for the extra power, which is usually worth the trouble. The thing with a few of the OH units is that you probably shouldn't be looking at their WS, but more at their Skill set. David and Gabriel are examples of this. Their Skill sets are geared more towards supporting the party, but having their CAs trained also means that they have a means of retaliating if deadlocked. Of course, you could also look at their growth types... David is Balance (which focuses more on SPD) and Gabriel has Physical (emphasis on HP and STR), so it kinda also tells you what you should focus them on. The other thing about OH units is that they're probably not worth having around unless they have a Shield. One of my most valuable units from my Athlum Generics Only run was Marty. OH + L-sized Shield. If I had charted his performance, I think he would be about on par with Liza in the PG stance if I had kept her as a Swashbuckler. Possibly even better because of all those Shield Bashes. Third highest damage dealer was Permia (Might Scythe/S-sized Shield + Bludgeoner). Same idea with OH + Shield. Zephyr 02:58, January 6, 2012 (UTC)

So does this mean that David is worth keeping on the PC? I always replaced him on the xbox because so many leaders were better than him. also, since my BR is 13 and I have yet to complete the Fiery Revolt, where do I need to grind? I know there is Glenys's quest but I want her for my party, and it also seems like Bai Ze is much tougher on the PC compared to the xbox. Vespalia has been destroying me and the boss in Leshau's quest is no better. Can I grind on the Vulture in Black Dale like on the xbox or do I have to Bai Ze or the PC ultimate Grind. Thank you in advance lol, i'd probably have given up by now without your help or just have been VERY frustrated.AoiVIII 01:56, January 7, 2012 (UTC)

Quite a few players I've watched in NicoDou keep him around because of the Shield + Skill set + his possible ending classes. I like to keep him around for support purposes, mainly as an interception/revive union. He also asks about Shards at a relatively reasonable BR so he's an Alchemist candidate, though not necessary if you intend to hire Hinnah/use Khrynia. Even if he's not leading, he can do well with supporting another unit (in one vid, Irina). Plus, Cerulean Rain if you keep him on the Bluesteel path. He's not the best in terms of raw power considering his growth type, but he's quite versatile. Just figure out what you want to use him for and steer him towards that direction. He's usually an Assassin for me for that extra SPD.
The Blackdale grind will not be as effective simply because you can't use the Save-Reload trick anymore. I would suggest using Numor Mine's Operations Area No.05. Those monsters are even stronger than Blackdale's, but I would suggest that you lower their stats via formations for ally KOs. You'll want them to keep BR gains low. Bai Ze is a good choice too, but you probably don't need to lower their stats because it's going to be a little bit of a pain to kill in the first place. At least until they develop their stats and skills a little bit. I actually would not worry too much about Glenys if you use the Wisdom's Echo grind. She can get caught up if you know what you're doing once you hit the later parts. It shouldn't take more than 20BR in the Ruins (after The Fallen) for her to get reasonably close to everyone else. I would know since I had units with stats at least 50 higher than a few new recruits, and I closed the gap after about 13BR (BR33~BR46). Zephyr 05:19, January 7, 2012 (UTC)

Hi,

Just wondering, does this wiki has a page explaining about monsters' bubbles? I thought I saw it once but I can't find it anymore-might misread character's bubbles explanation, though, ugh.

If not I'd help setting one up.

--Missrynne 19:38, February 20, 2012 (UTC)

There isn't one dedicated to that subject. I was going to create a page for that, along with a chart explaining each monster family's quirks on the field based on the JP guide, but that might take a while since I don't exactly have a break until next week. Below is something I summarized from the same guide from about a year ago (sorry for using a code box, but the blockquote didn't format it properly).

System of Encount
Monster Symbols and Encountering Them
In dungeons and fields, the enemy can be seen wandering around. There are 3 parts to engaging the enemy; Seeing the symbol, Approaching the symbol, and Using the Encounter Trigger. As you progress through the story, the enemies will scale along with you. You can check if you're in range of the encounter by looking at the bubble above their head. If it's white, you're out of range. Once it changes to red, you can drag that symbol into battle. Using the Encounter Trigger will send out a white ring, and any symbol caught in it will be fought.

  • The aggro range on the PC is slightly larger, meaning that they can, and likely will, detect you from further away than the X360 version.

The Encounter Ring is sent out from Rush's current position, but it does have a set range. Anything that's higher than 1.5x times his height or more than 1.5x times his height below him, even if they're in the circle's range and present on the radar, won't be fought. The symbol will probably react to the Trigger, so do be careful with it.

The Monster's Mood
Each monster type has a default mood that they're usually in, and can be examined by looking at the bubble. They can be "Aggressive", "Normal" ("...") or "Cowering." This affects how they'll react to Rush once he approaches their detecting range. Aggressive monsters tend to notice Rush much more easily and give chase for a longer period of time, while the Cowering monsters will turn and move away from him.

Then there are the moods they'll take on when something happens. They can be Charmed, Vehement, Asleep, Paralyzed or letting you know that they've detected him. Approach sleeping monsters with caution, since if they're rudely awakened, they will become vehement.

With the angered monsters, they will not stop chasing Rush until he has either used Timeshift, go into a different area, exit the location or engage another monster in battle. Because the Encounter Ring animation is somewhat long, use it with caution. If Rush uses it at an inappropriate time, it's possible for the enemy symbol to touch Rush before he can start running. This results in an "Enemy Advantage", meaning that the enemy force gets a free turn and you start with lowered morale.

Enemy Symbols and Linking
When sending out the Encounter Ring, there's a possibility of engaging more than 1 monster symbol. If Rush manages to Link something, the bottom right of the screen will alert the player of how many symbols were pulled into battle. It's possible to get over 10 symbols linked with strategic use of the Encounter Ring and Timeshift. The reason why someone would link is to increase drop rates, and more importantly, allow the game to go through an alternate drop table for some of the monsters. Another note about Linking is that the symbols themselves can pull in other symbols in range. This range differs between the different monster families. (note: I've actually experienced this a while back. I was running around and going to link a few symbols without tagging them, then realized that there were more links than symbols that I could see while there was nothing behind Rush. Turns out that there was something within range of another.)

Blank Triggers and Angry Monsters
If you send out an Encounter Ring while out of range of the symbol, but close enough for them notice, you'll anger them. Then they'll chase Rush until he moves maps, exits the location, uses Timeshift or engages in a battle. This is also known as an "Aggro Pull."

The Navi Map and Monster Symbols
Monster symbols will appear on the Navi Map as orange dots once they're within Rush's detectable range (usually if the player can see it as well). They will also appear on the map if the symbol has detected Rush, usually if they've been angered and are giving chase. The blue ring that emanates from the dot also shows the range of the monster's Link Ring. The bottom left of the screen will also let the player know if the symbol has started to target him.

Linking and Timeshift
After entering Dillmoor (or at the start of NG+ on the PC), Rush shows off his time manipulating abilities, known as Timeshift (Aim Time in JP). The effect lasts for 10 seconds and slows down time to allow Rush to either tag symbols, or run past them. While Timeshift is active, tagging anything and then sending out the Encounter Ring will drag everything tagged and in range into battle. Tagging a symbol will result in a red glow surrounding it. It should be noted that if a symbol is tagged but not engaged, it will result in an aggro'ed symbol until it is dealt with using various methods. It takes 10 seconds to recharge the meter.

Action of Symbol Monster
Monster Symbols - Movement Type and Detectable Range
Each monster symbol has their own movement pattern, on land or in the air. It may also change depending on how close you are to their detectable range. Walking produces less sound, so it's possible to walk right past some monsters by being stealthy. Running is much more noisy, so the detectable range expands to reflect that. So monsters use both sight and hearing to figure out Rush's position.

Flying monsters (Wyverns, Vultures, Spiritlords) can see Rush from slightly further away and will try to dive at him. Other monster types will try to rush him from the ground, moving up to twice their usual speed. They will try to travel in a straight line.

On occasion, you will encounter groups of monsters. They will attempt to work as a team to get an Enemy Advantage against the player. If the leader notices Rush, then it will notify the other team members, and will start their chase.

Symbol Monster Actions
Some monster families, like the Phantoms, can use various actions to make life a little more difficult. These include: Slowdown/Can't move, Can't act and Paralyzed (no movement, no acting). These effects last for 10 seconds. It's possible to wait out the first 3, but engaging in a battle can eliminate them after the fight. The last one is quite deadly as it practically grants the monster an Enemy Advantage.

It should be noted that each symbol has their movement patterns on the field, and usually a strong monster type is parked in front of something quite valuable. These ones, even if they detect you, may not move.

Their movement types also differ while on the field. Some will teleport between areas while others will hover around. It's best to observe how each monster family behaves before blindly charging through a dungeon or field.

There's also what the monster hunter in the Warrior's Honor would tell you, but it's really not that much. Zephyr 19:57, February 20, 2012 (UTC)

Oh I see, alright then, the guide's awesome enough as it is, but there're some things I'd like to suggest/ask. Mostly just extra details, though;

  • About walking/running, maybe there should be a note mentioning that you can't walk on PC? Unless I'm missing something.
  • Annoying fact that some the colossus family would keep chasing Rush wherever he goes just because they noticed him.
  • Some monsters would just stop chasing Rush after quite some time, or if he's already too far from them. At least that's how some of the spiders act whenever I try to link everything in Third Path. Maybe this has to do with my preference of using trigger instead of timeshift?
  • I think there's some difference in how long a monster react from normal to noticing Rush, for example, pests would take around 2~4 seconds before their bubble would turn red in alert (not just the red "...") while some other, let's just say the demon family takes around ~1.
  • And players still need to be careful being near even a cowered monster who can cast statuses, because I know I've been paralyzed by a cowering Weredragon.
  • Also, one more status bubble? The empty one?

You're right about that Yama, but at least he provides the example of bubbles? And basic knowledge, of course. I don't know what I'd do without him during my first time playing haha.

--Missrynne 20:56, February 20, 2012 (UTC)

I ignored him and went my merry way... because I had prior experience with this sort of monster behaviour in MinSaGa. The info is pulled only from the JP guide, which is why the original post says they're summaries. It also had the bubbles there, but I didn't want to scan the pages and then try to format the post. You can definitely walk in both versions. It's how far you push the analog stick that determines whether he runs or walks. The Colossus family is supposed to chase you everywhere. That's actually part of the table I didn't bother to translate. They will only chase you for a set distance if they're "Aggressive". They will chase you relentlessly if they're "Vehement" (angry eyes), though they may stop if they kinda end up stuck somewhere but can still him. There's a different there. Certain monsters are definitely quicker to anger, and some even have a small detect range. Again, from the table I didn't translate. Cowering just means that you can bump into them without consequence. Doesn't stop them from doing something to you on the field. The empty bubble is actually a small bug, exclusive to the PC version as far I know. It makes them stay in place and you can't aggro pull them. You can still engage them if you use the Encounter Trigger enough times. Zephyr 21:15, February 20, 2012 (UTC)

About the walking/running thing, with a controller, yes, but if you're using the keyboard then no? Okay I wasn't specific in that part. And yeah, definitely can pull them into a fight that way, but still, better to note it somewhere, I know I was all confused trying to figure out what I needed to do when that happened, and so far the ones having that kind of status were rare monsters I need to fight-one time it was Heaven's Lord.

Now that's done, I also want to say thanks for maintaining this wiki, it has helped me lots! (: I wish I can help more, but I don't think I'd be much use now beside completing the unique leaders' battle quotes-that is, if it's needed anyway, or if you ever need an extra hand in making the wiki's layout....okay I talked too much. But really, thanks!

--Missrynne 22:23, February 20, 2012 (UTC)

Since there's no pressure indicator on the keyboard, then no. And about those quotes? Here. The only thing that I haven't really done is fill in all their triggers and which ones are unused. And since I mostly play the game in JP, it's only when I'm playing the X360 version that I see what can trigger certain lines. Zephyr 22:40, February 20, 2012 (UTC)

Hmm, in that case, would you mind if I help adding the triggers on those?

And lol, your notes on Gabriel's clips.

--Missrynne 15:16, February 21, 2012 (UTC)

Gabriel is one of the main reasons why I play in JP. It's still the same cringe-worthy sort of stuff, but at least the voice is more bearable. The other is for Lord David's voice~ You can add the quotes and triggers directly to their pages. Don't really have the time to do that right now (school + Skyrim), but I will say that you leave my page alone. It was done for my own amusement, but I do add to it if I hear something. I have them there to cross-reference between what I hear in-game, what I've transcribed and what's typed here on the wiki. And I should probably go over them again at some point since I'm sure that I've screwed up a few lines here and there. And maybe attempt to transcribe the Japanese, even though I barely have a decent grasp of the language. Zephyr 18:12, February 21, 2012 (UTC)

dear Miss. Zephyr135 i just wanna ask. please answer.

http://www.2shared.com/file/E56cC_22/1_online.html

thank you.

Some arts can be used regardless of whether they're silenced or not. Bewitch is one of them. So that part isn't bugged. Deathtouch acts like a combat art (paralyze to stop, silencing it won't do anything), but it deals mystic damage. If you've ever seen a Shield unit block it, "Block" shows up in blue text, signifying that it's blocking mystic damage. If it were white text, then it was a physical attack. Some arts are a little weird like that. I believe I've gone over this before. Assassin actually grants [Ambush]. Only the Ranger gives [Side On]. You must have misread somewhere. Blueprint 4 is exclusively from fighting (mostly) one-time rares. In your case, it was from that Cavemaster, which is a one-time rare in Blackdale Second Entrance. Arcana are definitely classified as Mystic Arts, but they're kinda in their own class. Since your side requires a synergy to pull it off, all units in the union need to be healthy. If a unit within the Whiteout union was KO'd (pretty sure that's what happened), then it will stop the synergy since the union has an ailment. It can also be stopped if even a single unit was Blacked Out. For the enemy, they can use it whenever. Zephyr 03:48, March 26, 2012 (UTC)
