I don't know a thing about wiki functionality. I was thinking in creating checkboxes for the tasks to help the player remember wich ones he already completed. Is that possible?

Main page redesign / feedback Edit

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know I'll be working on a main page redesign, on a test page of course, which can be found here. What I have in mind is making the main page more appealing by using imagery to focus on the more important aspects of the wiki, such as characters, bestiary, items, etc. For a general example of a wiki where this works very well is the Watchmen Wiki.

Please use this section to leave any feedback and/or suggestions you have, such as what specific things (about 6 or 8) in the main page's Contents section you feel would be good to highlight with images. Thanks. JoePlay (talk) 19:55, 9 April 2009 (UTC)


Looking at the "Most Visited Pages" list (seemed like a good place to start), it appears that quests, guild tasks, primary characters, arts, and locations account for most of the top 50, but I have no idea how you'd work images for any of these (except characters) into the page.
Rare monsters should probably go in, as should leaders.
The page definitely needs a makeover, and if you can do as good a job with it as you did with the skin then I'll be happy!

I like most of it, but a little concerned about the image at the right hand side. I feel as though, since it's all the way at the top, it could easily draw attention away from the featured article. But then again, we could get rid of a featured article. Not entirely sure how much people are looking at it. I wonder if it may be useful to get rid of the pages that are listed at the top from the 'contents' section. Andrea 06:53, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
First, I removed the links from the Contents section that are linked to from the images as suggested. Should I change the Locations at the top to link to World Navigation, then remove that link from the Contents section as well?
As for the image at the top of the right column, and everything else in the right column for that matter, it's up to what all of you decide you want. You can remove the image or replace it with a shorter image (just make sure the width is at least 300 pixels since that's the fixed width of the column). Also, as Andrea mentioned, you could remove the Featured Article if there's something else you'd rather put there, such as a Featured Screenshot or video for example. Or you could leave the FA and put a different Featured ____ section below it. There are lots of options. Take your time to discuss it. I'll be glad to help implement any further design changes you decide on. In the meantime, since the responses to the new design so far are positive, I copied the code of my test page to the real main page. Any further tweaks/changes can be done there.
Another thing I wanted to mention: I'm pretty sure that I can add two more images to the top (2 rows of 4 instead of 2 rows of 3) and still have it fit for people using 1024x768 resolution. So if there are two other topics that you'd like to be added there (and that I can find images to use), say so and I'll work on that. basics Edit

Im really enjoying this game and appreciate the work done on this wiki but Im having some trouble finding some basics of the game such as..

what exactly each stat(speed, mys) effects

do the stats for a formation as a whole determine how each character in it performs? eg if a caster is put in with all heavy armored guys will his defense be the same as theirs?

are characters at the back of a formation less likely to be hit physically?

Battle commands Edit

Someone start a page so I can do some edits. I tried starting a page but the web ate it up. Looking to put in information like what conditions need to be met for what commands to show up, although that's more specific to stuff like defend and flanking. Also looking to put in information like how the different heal commands work, under what conditions they will cause the union to attack, etc.

Monster BR Edit

There's no interest in collecting the data for monster BR?

Zone in, attack the mob at your BR, see what battle command it gives you for fight, "Attack" is at least even to your level, but you'd have to compare it to it's previous level which would be "Act wisely!"

Are you sure that the BR stays the same for one location through the game? I would say collect some data on the talk page of the monsters and when there is more we can decide if and how to add it. - Merthos 15:12, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

Bugs in quests / user warnings? Edit

Hello. Should we create a page of warnings for the players so they'll not be dissapointed/frustrated by some bugs in quests. Most RPG fans want to finish game completing nearly everything but they can fall in some traps or dead ends. For example, I've entered Undelwalt BEFORE I've defeated The Fallen (on PC) so I missed the The Ancient Ruins this way (I was lucky having a save). Another one: you can miss the quest of Hearts if you bind Dead Heart before speaking to Haruko in many places (so I did, luckily again I had a save). --89.151.138.146 11:57, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

I myself only refrerence to walkthroughs in case I'm lost or stuck but still would be grateful to get a good foreword warning. I don't mind but how can you be sure that someone like you (who only looks when stuck) did look at this bug list before running into one? This Wikia Needs Some Improvements. Edit

It really does. It seems that unless you can fight it, or it can fight alongside you, it doesn't have a pager here. For instance, Wagram. He's an important character, yet he has no article. A wikia isn't meant to be a guide, it's meant to be a source for information. Yes, starting stats are important, but we need more background information on the characters. Like, "Baulson had a sister" or something like that. We should keep the pages we have for characters now, but make another one that says "(Name)(Character)". For those you who don't understand, I mean, if we were going to create a page on Castanea, we would have it made like "Castanea(Character)". We also need to work on the location pages. All it tells is where treasure is. So, just telling you what you need to improve on. I'll gladly help if you need it. I can only speak for myself, but to me, this wiki is as clean as can be, there is nothing here to 'clean up'. To me, there is no better 'source of information' than this. If there's anything interesting in a character's background, i prefer to find it out in the game. Yes, i know Baulson has a sister. But if i didn't, i wouldn't want to read it here just because i wanted to see what arts Baulson can learn. When i open a location page, i don't do it to find out what happened there and what it looks like, i can find that out myself in the game. What i do want to know is where the treasure chests are, what can i harvest here, and what monsters can i fight here. I also don't want to find out anything about Wagram here that i don't already know from the game, even by misclicking. So to sum it up, i quite like the wiki the way it is (i wouldn't welcome changes to the current content). I like to find out the background story from the game itself and not by reading it (i'm not interested in story-related descriptive articles). I come here to find out what drops what, what can i find where, how do i learn what, and what's the next upgrade for what and how do i get it (i'm interested in game data and mechanics). I respect your opinions. I'm not saying we get rid of what we have, I'm saying we add some more stuff. Like, how about this, we have one page that talks about The Vale of the Gods, while we have another(The one we have now) tell about the treasures? And, like I said earlier, A wiki is meant to tell about plot and storyline details, not to be a walkthrough/guide. We could put Spoiler warning up to keep ones who don't want to read about actual plot. And Drake, maybe you don't want to learn about the game from reading, but, there are some people out there who do want to find stuff out by reading about it. I tend to be very protective about what i like, that's just the way i am, no offense meant and none taken. I respect your opinion as well, but i also think that there is no such thing as what a wikia is meant to be, it is what we make of it. For some games, the developers focus on a rich background world, story if you will, that has great depths of information by itself. For these games, this is probably what a wiki will focus on as this will likely be the driving force for the players to play and replay the game. I think this is not one of those games. True, there is a background story here too but nowhere near as rich as it could be (and i'd say nowhere near as rich as to warrant articles about it), probably because the developers focused their attention elsewhere, and aside from the main story there isn't much to be learned about this world. If you create articles with this amount of information available, they will either not be very informative (2-3 sentences) or will have to rely on speculation to create content (there are obviously exceptions). While you can argue that even 3 sentences are worth putting up an article for, i respectfully disagree. Now, on the other hand, the developers spent a great deal of time designing the system and mechanics behind this game, and i would bet that most people coming here are interested in these, hence the development of this wiki moved the way it did. The part of the game that is rich in content is what we write and want to read about. Anyway, you should probably wait for the other admins to put in a few words here before you start up large-scale, they probably won't mind you creating the descriptive articles, but if you want these to be linked instead of the current ones, i bet you'll encounter some resistance (ie. menu->baulson(character)->baulson(stats) ordering is unlikely to work, but menu->baulson(stats)->baulson(character) should be fine). I do agree that some people would want to know about the story/history about certain character/place, and I don't mind having certain page about that information. Having a link for background information of certain character is good IMO. But we kinda need to put them into a new category since those who playing the game want stats while those want background info can find it too. I'd say that way the wiki will be more complete. I would not mind some background info but I don't know where you want to get it. OK, some pages on the story characters like Wagram would be nice, but even the story does not really give much. For leaders I don't think any additional pages are needed, almost all data comes from the conversations and there are already pages for those. I wouldn't mind using in-game images, the current ones could go down to the Gallery. For background info you can put it where it is on Emma's page, seeing as how 'rich' the game is in that content i doubt we'll have to scroll down much to get to the stats :p. You don't even have to create separate character pages for this, but if you want to elaborate on the character's role during the storyline you'll have to come up with a way to spoiler-tag it, whether you put it at the top or the bottom. I think the Background should include only that, the development and traits of the character up to the point where we meet him/her in the game. If you can come up with a good title for any other character related information (such as role in the story) we can reference it at the end of the background section and then put it somewhere near the bottom of the page so once you read the background you can just click the link and read on (without creating separate pages), although it will still have to be a spoiler-tagged section. Good Idea. Also, I've been reading some other wiki's, and, I noticed that some of them have subheadings like "Personality" and "Characteristics". You think we should add those to the character articles? Also, I think that I should add whatever I put in Baulson(Character)to Baulson's Article. We should still get articles on John, Marina, Hermien, Wagram, and any others, though. You can get an example on how to do the spoiler boxes on Emma's page. About separate headings, those wikis probably have enough information on these topics for it to look bad in one piece. There's no point in splitting up the nothing that we have. For starters, it should be just Background and then another heading (for which i can't come up with a title) that can contain all the spoilers. Yeah, that's why i suggested putting spoiler-heavy character info at the bottom of the page. Put background at the top, add a link to the bottom section, and by the time anyone reads through the background or scrolls to the bottom the spoiler box will close up. TBH I think that some non-playable characters SHOULD have their page. Like Wagram, who appears to be someone mentioned EVERYWHERE in the game if you pay attention to the side quest (and particularly the desert's legend) and watch carefully the picture Marina shows Rush after the first battle against NamulNiram... I mean, some players are interested in the backstory but just don't connect the dots between the said picture, the stones on the Flaumello Tower, the fact that wagram specifically mentions "magick" ("Ancient magick bound to my core...") as in slumbers of the lost fragment, etc... Had to google him and find disucssions on other site to be sure he was whoever he is (sorry, don't wanna spoil here). Same goes for the Seven. For why are the seven emiting remnants kind of black light on the device, for what happens the Hermeien, for why is there a Alina Melvinae the first time you pass trough the final fortress and fight void intruder (it's by the steps you go through when walking from the 6th path to the 7th path, where later spawns a dragon), etc... late game drops Edit

I have a suggestion for a new page. For late game customization you require certain items like jewel steel and reyas note. Those are easy to search in the wiki and to find since they can only be dropped in the AR. However, there are other items, such as Bristly Dragon Mane, Demon Mane, Vile Lizard Tail, Phantom Husk and stuff that can be dropped at several locations. I suggest to create a page where we can list the EASIEST places to farm these items. For example, the page should note that Demon Mane can be easiest farmed inside floor x of the AR. Same goes for the Vile Lizard Tail and Thick Treant Branch - there are 3-4 locations, but which one offers the greatest amount of potential mobs is unclear. This basicly could be done for all components required for Artis/Virtusis customizations (and all endgame weapons that are not artis/virtusos-customizable). In addition, this page/section could list certain "specials", like that some items can only be dropped in certain areas (i.e. large werefang thingy only path 6/7, pest toxins only in underground tier of RR etc).


This new page could make the endgame content far easier to overview for "new" players.

i think the main page needs to point out some important pages like "Unique Leaders Availability" or "PC Ultimate Grind" to new users. i saw them only by accident in the "Latest activity" box. i think such pages contain lots of important information and tips, and should be accesible to everyone. --Dziugas 10:23, January 22, 2010 (UTC)

Except that PC ultimate grind is crap and should IMO be deleted from this wiki (goes against good stats up and effective grinding).

Developing Arts Edit

How is the experience done? I've been told that you get 2 points for selecting it. How much is earned by using it and killing an enemy with it? Also is there a way to check the level of the Arts?

Generally 2 XP for selecting, 2 XP for executing.
Heres a tool written by Drake178 and me to read memory data. You need to have it running while the game is running and you can read memory data on the fly. Tables F0-FF generally cover workspace data for arts, etc. F5 is the main character workspace. Drake has stopped developing it, so i'd say it's at its final revision. What happened to the main menu? Edit

I think it just happens from time to time. I panicked a little a while back when that happened. I think there's just some server maintenance happening somewhere that's causing this. It should be back to normal in about a day. Hopefully less. Zephyr135 02:23, June 18, 2010 (UTC)
What I'm seeing in the menu right now is that all the links to walkthroughs, combat, items, and etc. are gone, and we have instead a mess of equipment and weapons, some strange Explore the Wiki link, a New Pictures section, and etc. Hopefully this is indeed just a server hiccup that will revert to normal by itself. If you ever see main page elements acting strangely site-wide it's more than likely the mediawiki crew testing or changing core wikia elements that just happen to apply to us as well. It goes away within a few hours at worst, and doesn't happen very often either, so don't worry about it. It should even be something different every time too! Drake178 19:52, June 18, 2010 (UTC)

Hey all you folks contributing to the wiki... I didn't know where else to put feedback, but I couldn't just sit by and not let you guys know how incredibly awesome this wiki is. I played this game for a while but got overwhelmed quickly in trying to get all the quests, build up skills, etc... because I just didn't know how it all worked or where anything was, etc. I ended up putting down the game for around a year. Now, I've picked it back up and I stumbled across this wiki... it has already undoubtedly saved me hours of frustration and pointless grinding (while hunting down rares and the like) and I can actually ENJOY this game! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! I can only imagine the hours upon hours of work that has gone into gathering all this information, and I wanted you to know the players are grateful!! pages with tables Edit

hello, I wanted to inform you that in some pages (like this one [1]) the tables go under (or above) some other text, which sometimes makes the text either impossible or difficult to read.Jalebian 15:02, December 20, 2010 (UTC)

Yep, this is an issue with the new skin. The pages in question were originally designed for the Monaco skin - which Wikia no longer supports - and the replacement has lumped all the general info (search bar, number of pages, recent edits etc) on to the right hand third of the screen and squidged everything else together to make room. It's on my list of things to fix, but given the time of year and that I work in retail, don't hold your breath. In the meantime, you could always use the MonoBook skin (go to Preferences, it's on the User Profile tab under Site Layouts), which all pages fit into nicely. Ferret37 21:41, December 20, 2010 (UTC)

A problem with save fileEdit

(PC) Someday ago I renamed a save file (say from "savegame06" to "savegame07") and now the game cannot load data from it. The slot appears to be a blank one. I did used a trainer to get some weapons so I would like to ask if the trainer may cause this problem or just the game itself cannot load a renamed save file. It's the file itself. If you save it to a certain slot, it's supposed to be loaded from that slot. Renaming it will make it seem like a corrupted file or blank slot. Zephyr 06:21, February 9, 2011 (UTC)

How to compose efficient formations (short term and long term) ? Edit

I did not find this on this excellent wiki.

The focus chosen for the leaders (Mystic, Balanced, Combat), the boni given by the formations (and furthermore the upgrades of these formations), the system of arts progression... all of this make the composition of a formation a tricky thing. How should I compose each formation ?

Mystic Specialist with Mystic Specialists, Combat Specialists with Combat Specialists, Balanced ones with Balanced ones, or mixed bands ?

What is the best options for short term (survivability, damage, etc.) and long term (arts development) ?

I'll be glad to find information (and why not feedback of experienced users) about this on this wiki.

Composition is going to depend on what you want the union to do. If survival is a problem, then place the units in a defensive formation. If you want to intercept, put them in a speed-focused formation (sometimes use mystic unions for this). Since the requirements for formation upgrades are much higher on the PC, just the base level is enough most of the time. Safe formations to go with are the Batwings, Hawk-eye and Vanguard. For arts development, anything to lower ATK and/or MYS by a considerable amount. For the PC, it's the Mystic Seal formation, which doesn't really start shining until NG+. And yes, you should focus unions early in the game because of how the game cycles through their arts. Building hybrid unions can be tricky, especially if you don't know which units would be best at leading those types of unions. The reason why you're not likely going to find that info here is because everyone will have an opinion on the matter. So, look them up to see if they fit your union needs. Thanx for your answer. It gives me some clues about unions building. Despite what you said, I think this wiki need a part about these questions. Because in facts, unions building is the point of this excellent and singular game. Under which form, I don't know. Maybe some basic chronological exemples of typical choices players could take when the unions limitations changes occur.

For exemple, I took only McGready and Baulson under Rush's command in the first part of the game. I think there's not a lot of other choices there. But as soon as I can have 9 members in 3 unions, the number of possibilities explodes (as my head :)). I made 3 unions of 3 members each. The first for the Mystics, Pagus (leader), Loki and Baulson (told to focus on Mystic to give more decent HP to this union). The second for the "Warriors" (Combat), David (Leader), Torgal and Blocter. The third union ideally for the Balanced ones (in fact I've no focused leader to put in at this time), Rush (Leader, with no focus to choose he is The balanced,isn't he ?), McGready and Partis.

The second union works very well. The third is a little bit too fragile, but two of his members are not leaders for now. But the arts development of the first union is strange. Pagus does the job with mystics arts -and do it well-, but the two others mostly strike with their weapons and learn mystics talents very very slowly (for Baulson i'm not sure he learned even only one at CR 15...).

There's actually a lot more choice than you think. You can also hire from Celapaleis' guild before heading to Blackdale. Completion of a few guild tasks will also unlock a few more units for hire. Had no choice but to use McGrady, Oakes and Thelma for Blackdale due to run restrictions, and Thelma needs to be unlocked.
I would also leave chronological examples off the wiki. It sets up something of a structure that players feel that they may want to follow, which goes against what a SaGa plays like. The player is (usually) encouraged to experiment when there are no set parameters, other than what's currently limiting them. There's also the different hiring strategies between versions, so if I'm playing the X360 version, I can't follow what a PC player would want to do. And what if someone is on NG+? They would likely be using a completely different set of formations for various fights. I used the Zodiac Fall formation against Jager and Lob Omen, something I wouldn't be able to do on a fresh run. The only examples that I would consider putting on the wiki are the ones that are very hard to get upgrades to. Dragontail and Hurricane come to mind. Even then, the base level is sometimes enough.
I know what's wrong with the 1st union. Have you considered the units' class? Pagus is mystic, while the other 2 are combat. Baulson also can't develop any MAs until he asks about Remedies at BR18. So if you want them to develop MAs, I would actually put Loki as the leader and purposely keep choosing MA commands. If Pagus learns a CA, just close it if you don't want him to develop them. Once Loki shifts into either Marauder or Mysticknight, then it becomes a lot easier for him to bring up mystic commands. Zephyr 17:52, May 12, 2011 (UTC)


Regarding the chronological exemples, this wiki is full of dildos deflorating TLR's secrets. One more in the game's ass, will not change the fact that we can find here what we need to avoid the poetry of being lost inside the mysteries of the story timeline, the availability of sidequests, how to obtain the parameters boni for the leaders, the formations upgrades, and more...

After all, it's up to the player to use these or not. It's up to him to click on "spoiler" or not.

What I meant is that there's some rendez-vous, with unions limitations evolutions. Giving some basics explained exemples, of what could be made at these times toward one goal or another, could help to understand the game's mechanics. Two parts if needed : one for the PC, one for the 360. For the NG +... is there a need ?! :) Nothing more.

This one seems to work more efficiently reagrding the arts development goal. But for a long time, only the leader of the mystic union was using MA, the two others were just making the basic attack.

The leader seems also to have some impact of the orders choices offered to the player. But I don't understand why. For some great foes, Mad Demon for exemple, I was forced to change and take two unions instead of three. One union for damaging the foe, and one healing the other. When Pagus was the leader of the healing union, I could do a "healing stand-by" command each turn. When Rush was the leader I was sometimes forced to attack, and that was leading to death. Incidentally, that's what the Talk pages are for. A good walkthrough will only give you what the objectives are, along with maps if applicable, leaving it up to the player to figure out how to go about it. It may also give a small hint here and there for the harder bits. This is why I greatly prefer JP guides, because it's essentially a flowchart. If they want to look for something, they'll find it if they look hard enough. Plus, there are a few categories here and there, most notably "Game Mechanics". We're not here to hold someone's hand through the game.
For NG+ or specialized runs, approaches could be very different. Hell, even between the versions, the approaches could be very different. Some like to go incredibly heavy on combat, while others like mystics. All of that will be rather cluttered... The best you can do are generalizations at different stages. I just don't like the idea of putting that stuff there because then some players would just follow that instead of trying to make their own unions that work for them. There's already a Union Creation Strategies page, which is more important than figuring out how to use formations. Getting the union to work is going to help with survival a lot more than sticking a random bunch of units together in a really good formation. How else is someone able to beat The Fallen, White Conqueror and The Lost using only IAs? The formations didn't do much. It was the union composition.

The focus you tell them only affects their equipment. The class system governs their commands. Rush doesn't initially have the [Medic] class ability, so he doesn't really like bringing up that command. Pagus on the other hand, if he's a Sorcerer/Healer/Bishop, he will have access to that ability, which will increase the likelihood of seeing the "Recover your health!" command. All healing commands have an increased chance of popping up if the leader is in a class with [Medic], although certain commands have higher priority depending on the union's status. Also, whenever you see the "all-out" commands, the class will determine, along with whatever arts are open, what the unit will use. Something I keep telling other players is this: choose a leader, then select units to complement him/her. Incidentally, this is also why I like playing it in JP... They colour-coded the classes all the way through the tiers, making it easier to see what type they are. Blue for Combat, Purple for Mystic, Yellow for Item, Green for Item+Com, Reddish for Mys+Com. Location pages need more work. And so do connections to plot progression. Edit

...or so i think. My point is - information needs reorganisation. Naturally, when a player is looking for answers it usualy leads to more questions, creationg "chains of question" which often lead to a big "Later" at the end.

For example a player is interested in accuireing "explosives" for Rush. First he finds out that he needs to complete "Union of the golden chalice task 38". That links to a page with a list of tasks, where he finds out that he'll need 3 dragon eggs. Which leads to a page descibing where to get them, which leads to pages of 5 different creatures, each in turn leading to at least 1 location per creature (in this case 4 of them are rares so only one leads to multiple locations). In turn locations link to quests that are needed to unlock them, which might lead to other quests, and some of them eventually lead to answer "this quest is available later down the storyline".

I'm not saying those chains need to get shorter, but that's a whole lot of pages and information to sort through, and half of that work can be skipped by having reference pages. We have "availability of sidequests", for example, so when a sidequest pops up in the chain we can look at that page, and we already know if that branch of the search is worth persuing further. If we had similar pages on locations, creatures or even items such a search could be made much easier without cluttering up individual pages.

Creating such pages however is a whole lot of work (especially for items), but that'd save even more work in the long run.

As for location pages, I think 2 things need improvement: 1) Currently most maps only have a grid on them. Dotting points of interest on them (like on the map of the searing cauldorn) shouldn't be much of a problem, but should be a great help. If we could actually see those points and their explanation on the same page, that'd be even better. (Map of the searing cauldorn needs to be enlarged to clearly see the marks, but that leaves the explanation on another page and switching back and forth between them is rather inconvinient). 2) Some areas of some locations get "expanded" on the way, currently they are treated as one and the same, but they deserve separate treatment, for example on Mr. Diggs page in the list of morsels it says "Stethos Morsel Ruins of Robelia Castle - Central Tier, location A-3" "Ruins of Robelia Castle - Central Tier" is one of the earliest location, but A-3 isn't available for quite some time.

We're not going to see where exactly A-3 is unless we open respective page anyway, so unless user is storeing maps separately this is pointles to have on that page. Informing the player that it's only available once the area is expanded, however will deliver a clear message, that he can't go get that morsel yet.


P.S. I don't know the game well enough, I'm still trying to sort all of this out for myself, so I'm not a good candidate for arranging all that at this point. If it stays like this by the time I have something to hook all this ocean of information with in my memory, I'll get to it myself. However I got the game at release, and haven't finished a single playthrough since then, so that's not going to happen in the nearest forever and a half.

Changing the maps is one of the things I want to do because I want to pinpoint where all rares spawn, but that would involve changing everything else to match it. I could just scanlate the JP guide's maps, but I don't really know if that's such a good idea because of copyright issues and whatnot. The morsels should have been placed in chronological order, but that can differ between players. For areas that expand, all they need is a little clarification, which is nothing major. By grabbing a map from the area, the player can just cross-reference between the game and the wiki to see if areas still need to be unlocked. There are a lot of things I want to do to the wiki right now. They're just not quite on my to-do list at the moment as I'm working on a few other things that I think are a little more important, like figuring out mechanics. I think a little inconvenience is worth figuring out the workings of the game. By the way, Rush's page already points out that you need to get 3 Dragon Eggs for Explosives. Well, good luck figuring out the mechanics, would be great to know them. What I meant about separate treatment of unexpanded area, is that with the map the way it is/was an average search looks like this:
1)Ok, so I need an [Item], let's go to it's page and see where to find it.
2)Ok, so I can harvest it [here] and [there].
3)Let's see... the page of [here] says that to get [here] I'll need to do [this quest], which according to quest availability page comes later.
4)Alright... let's check [there]. I've been [there] already. Aha, the harvesting spot I have is at [some coordinates]. Ok, let's see the map... oops, that's a locked part of the area.
5)Ok, another look at [there]'s location page told me that I'll need [that quest] to unlock a locked part of the area, and [that quest] isn't available either.
6)So I can't get [Item], ok, moving on...
The next search for another item ususally comes up in 1-5 minutes. I spend more time searching the wiki than playing...
Steping away from coordinates->grid would cut most of the time spend in step 5.
Having "Area availability" page would have elliminated step 3.
Having a reference not to [there], but to [there, expanded] (along with the area avilability page handling area expansions) would have elliminated step 4 and 5.
Having an "Item availability" page would elliminate the search entirely and save all the time I spend finding out that items aren't available yet.
So you want someone to sift through all 648 materials just for that. Here's an easier way to do it... Since equip upgrades are tied to when materials are available, the only thing that needs to be done is note when certain customizations are possible. An example of this is at around entering the Aqueducts for the first time. You can only customize up to around the Daimyo/Elite's/Nobilatis customization because the next set of materials isn't available until entering Fornstrand/opening up the rest of Aveclyff/etc. (Reprocessed Metal, Platinum Ore, etc.). That's it. It's really the only thing most players are concerned about, except for when they're crafting accessories, but that's usually not until endgame and most would just buy the accessories instead of crafting unless they want to customize specific units. I was already going to start a page on Equipment Requests and was going to note down when the earliest time they can be customized was anyways. I don't see an issue with area availability. If you paid attention to your own game, you would know ahead of time which areas you have unlocked. Zephyr 17:18, August 14, 2011 (UTC)
Yes I do. And eventually that someone will be me unless someone else does it first. I know how much work that is, but it'll save more in the long run. Checking upgrades availability will requre about the same amount of work (unless someone has a habit of upgrading all available weapons and knows the whole deal from experience), and frankly speaking will be more conveinent, but in the long run both are needed. I could get to it now, by just sorting throught the info on the wiki, but like I said earlier I haven't finished a single run yet, and I'm bound to make a bundle of mistakes just because I don't know what I'm sorting through.
For example Ruins of Robelia Castle Central Tier has a digging point at H-11. I'm pretty sure I saw it there myself before, but last time I've been there (earliest version, without a ladder) it wasn't there. The wiki doesn't tell when It'd pop-up, so I'd assume it's available initially, which is wrong. This kind of mistakes is why I think all edits should be done by someone with knowledge of the game, and with double checking.
Also, I tend to have "rushing approach" to game, I avoid fights unless I get something special from them (like those dragon eggs, or a quest for a new leader), and keep my BR low (unless something forces me to build-up). Makes the game much more fun then just going around thrashing hordes of monsters and trampling most bosses along with them. Which means half of my quests remain unfinished until the latest time they are availalbe. Which means some of the areas I could have unlocked remain locked unless I need something from them. Might be a weird approach to a game (though not so likely, seeing all the low BR games referenced across the wiki), but here's an example how one can pay attention to one's game and still don't know which areas are available.
Once I'm done with this "runthrough" I'll get to a "sweepthrough", and check availability along the way. That might take a loooong while though.
Excavation points are set points, but are randomly picked when you enter the area. The one at H-11 is available when you enter the Ruins again after acquiring the Drill, but it's one of 4 points with a Bone Fragment. So you're actually wrong about that. I don't think you'll know enough about the game just from 1 playthrough. Well, either way, if I see a mistake, I will correct it. Almost memorized when a lot of things happen... Japanese voice animations? Edit

Hey guys, else of you notice that while in Japanese voice (my preferred voice option) that the mouths move to the English words? Is this just a glitch or did square enix not make the animations for Japanese voice.... Also anyone else notice how the english subtitles are just the regular subs and aren't always a good interpretation of the Japanese voice?

I think it was intentional. The game was meant for international release when it was first announced, so they decided to go with syncing to the English track. Sometimes the wording has to be different. It's not a straight translation, but more of a localization. You can't just translate things and have them fly. There are cultural differences that they have to be aware of as well, though I can't really think of any at the moment when it comes to LasRem... Zephyr 14:45, September 8, 2011 (UTC)
Dang, I ran across one last night, can't remember what it was. But the dialog selection reply was clearly an English idiom, something a literal translation from Japanese would not have - I'm fairly sure of this, it was almost meme-ish. My game is just somewhere past Elysion, I'm still early in it. I've played plenty of games and can tell between literal translations vs localisations, and it's definitely the latter here. I prefer the former, shrug, but that's just me (I know multiple languages, so even a mangled English literal translation gets the point across to me instead of a localisation which substitutes an idiom not present in the other culture). Lol thanks for the fast reply I was just wondering because I just started playing it again on the PC (after abandoning it on the 360 during first playthrough because I fucked up my BR(it was WAY too high)) and I noticed a lot of discrepancies. E.g. when Rush says in the prologue "Ikusa ka?" which means "War?" it instead localized to "What's that?" Units in battle only attack. Edit

Hey..so like,my units on the last remnant all have Arts, either mystic or combat, obviously. Anyway, my leaders have no problem using them..but my normal soldiers never use their arts, EVER..its always ; Leader : knee splitter soldier : attack soldier : attack You get the idea..I've tried selecting several different battle commands during battle, and ofcourse those are usually quite limited..so why wont they use their arts? It doesnt help during a boss to have your units only attacking now does it? Would appreciate any help xx

That's normal. The commands and how AP intensive they are can depend on who the leader is, what the leader's class is, the soldiers' classes, what they're targeting, etc. If there's nothing you like, you could always try using the "Play it by ear!" command. New Shields Page Edit

Seeing as how we have a nice Accessories page that lists all the in game accessories, I decided to make a similar list for Shields too. Perhaps this can replace the links on the homepage and navigation bar that currently point to the category page for shields. Please review this proposed change. I have never seen either of those pages before. What is the rank column in your tables by the way? Is that the internal level of the items? My primary goal was to find some way to show the upgrade paths as accurately as possible in a linear format, so perhaps I should use tier to designate an item's position on the upgrade tree. With your rank, burden, and growth data one could make a table with all the essential information in one place.
In any case, I feel the category links for both shields and weapons on the main page are really quite terrible. Neither page has much value in helping players compare items, and anyone looking for a specific item will find it much faster through the search box anyway. How about renaming Shield Listing to Shields and just direct all the main page links to that? Similarly for weapons, the Equipment Listings section of Equipment Requests can be extracted to replace or merge with the current Weapons page, then have all the links directed there too. Yeah, the "Rank" would be their internal levels, which is used to determine what gets priority during requests (and if it's the same Rank, then whichever equip has the most EXP accrued). The "Shield Listing" page had been there for quite a while, but was changed about a year ago upon request to its current form. It's actually linked through the Category page, at the top. And I was working on listing upgrade paths and the materials needed offline, but haven't had much progress lately due to other commitments.
Problem with the renaming: it would overwrite anything you've already done. I'll replace the "Weapons" page with the links. It looked perfectly fine before the layout change, but now it's a mess. As for shields, I think it would be safe to proceed with the merger, since the task of merging the tables will still remain regardless of what happens first (plus the notation and format for upgrade links still needs improvement). Is this good? Edit

One problem I had with this wiki is that it gives you lots of gameplay information on characters, but no story info. The story info & summary is useful for someone who hasn't played the game for a while but want to jump back and wants to quickly remember what was up with the characters. (This happened to me)

But I'm not sure how this wiki works or whether there's a reason that there aren't any story info on characters. So I edited Allan for now. Check to see if it's good I'll do the same for other characters. Toss me any suggestions you have as well.

The original creator and editors for the wiki agreed to keep as many spoilers off the wiki as possible. Or if you're going to add spoilers, link it to a new page. I, personally, would keep it that way (this is why the bonus talks are on separate pages). If you need to catch up, the walkthrough should have links to the cutscenes now and I'll be filling in dialogue from the various quests. Or at least try to in a timely manner (just restarting a challenge). Plus, there's their bonus talks. The only development the side characters get is from their quests and bonus talks. Nothing else. Photos gone? Edit

Hi! It seems for some reason the last 10 photos I've uploaded are gone. Are they deleted for a reason? If not, will they be back or do I have to reupload them??? Gezegond (talk) 12:27, April 9, 2013 (UTC)

Inspector Issues Edit

Steam tweak thread vs wikia tweaks Okay just got this game and I am applying the ini file tweaks right now. One thing I am having trouble with is the wikia team guide says for AA code 0x0000045 must be used in inspector. However when I load inspector then the the last remnant profile that already exist it has different AA codes. So which one is the correct one? Also the wikia guide says change behavior files does it mean behavior flag? If so 0.000045 is not one of the options. Any help would be greatly appreciated. From ``conflicted in Cali``


Is it possible to add color coded header for components? Edit

It is just my thought and suggestion, though. Maybe doing so would be more convenient for people seeking to collect a certain component. Like they will be more informed about how rare it is, etc. I know there are the tags and category pages but the header would be more obvious and straightforward, similar to the ones for monster pages. - A Wikia contributor.

The Last Remnant Wiki Edit

Hey everybody.

I just want to thank all of you who brought this last remnant wiki to its position now.

i nearly found nothing in the internet for this game, before. no good tipps or explanations. (im german, the only tipps i found were from myself and in the biggest online gaming magazin for germans)

i was so happy when i found this one here!

In this moment I completeted the game in normal Mode with BR 83. After i found youre wiki i spend some time for little quests and preparing for a second run and now im BR 93 and not possible to do anything more. Im sad that i found that wiki so late, because i forget about one important quests (the fallen) thats why i dont have access to "the ancient ruins" so i couldnt done a couple of quests and coudlnt finde some ingredients.

I first played that game "10 years ago" when it was published for xbox 360 first.

i really hated that game because it was so unfair and there are so many parameters where you coudlnt take influence. thats why i never finished it for xbox 360 (i think i dont remember for sure) i think i canceled it during the events of königsdorf ("kingviliage") with these 6 viliages and the big fight.

i did one BIIIIG mistake during my hole gameplay. When i created my group / formations. i never put rush, irina, athlums king, and his commanders in the first line, because i didnt know about "unique leaders". I made my formations by this thought: "fighters with strong defense and offense at first and in the backlines healer and mages with strong int". thats why rush was always in middle --> so i never used their MAJOR abilitis (which made the game even harder vor me) ^^

Im a bit sad that the game on steam dont have achievements! After i put so many efforts to complete it ^^ I never thought about playing it again, even without achievments. but now im prepared with your wiki and so im interested in more ^^

facts about hardmode? Edit

Hi,

Can you please tell me something about the hardmode. I just found in this wiki that: "Hard Mode, monster's attacks are much stronger. Hard mode save files display the player's Battle Rank in red, instead of the regular orange color"

thats all? no other changes? like better monster caching or better rare dropps? new quests? special cutszenes?
