Why the edit by Mike?[]

Mikeyakame, I'd like to know why you removed my note about the true difficulty of Bluejaws on the PC (on the "Interlude:Athlum" page after your mention of the creature). I could understand if you added it to Bluejaws actual page, but you did nothing but delete it.

Well after I had a quick look over it, it definitely didn't belong on that page or Bluejaws page at that. You should always use the talk page for that kind of thing, that's what they are intended to be used for. Otherwise it results in a very messy hard to read wiki. Difficulty is one of those things that varies person to person, and in this game some people have tremendous difficulties with lets say a monster I find a breeze to beat, while other monsters some find easy I find much more difficult. A lot of it comes down to what kind of style you use in your battles, and for your army. That is why it's not the kind of thing to use a main article for, rather for opinion/style/approach info try and make a habit of using that articles talk page instead. PC version notes[]

Some notes from a couple of leveling up runs (with Pagus) before Dilmoor is available:

  • With or without linking there's no BR cap, but BR gains are slower compared to full party (after Dilmoor is available)
  • There's no change of monster's strength without linking (only battle difficulty)
  • There's no way your BR will stay low, even without linking, if you clean all the monsters
  • Without linking your Invocations won't suffer
  • Without linking your Combat arts will suffer somewhat
  • Without linking your Herbs and Remedies usually suffer (no near death experiences)
  • Without linking some skills suffer and class progression of Rush is more towards a Magus (with a Ring)
  • Without linking Pagus learns Invocations slower than Rush (a difference in speed will make Rush act first?)
  • Around BR8 Roseflies will get poisonous and you're likely to gain another BR immediately after fighting them

Some of these changes are easily explained. Invocations usually will overkill a group in round 1, so you choose Mystic arts as often with or without linking monsters (hitting with spells won't matter). Not using Item arts will make Rush a Magus instead of a Freelancer (and later a Marauder).

In short:

  • It's worthwhile to level up before Dilmoor is available (even with PC version)
  • It's better to just choose an objective for Rush and play with linking before continuing the story
  • Use Accessories to shift the Str/Int balance to get the class you want
